TROUBLESHOOTER VISIT CHECKLIST Last Updated: RHT 11/02/07
USE THIS CHECKLIST EACH TIME YOU VISIT A LOCATION

OUTSIDE OF POLLING PLACE
Verify that all outside distance markers and signs are clearly VISIBLE
(VOTE HERE, sandwich boards [EV Only], handicapped parking, etc.)
Is the polling site ADA Compliant? (Wheelchair accessible)
If not write problem Log and contact Call Center 854-4783
INSIDE OF POLLING PLACE
Ensure that all postings are properly posted
See the Election Day Training Manual for correct information
Are the blue “Voter Instructions” flyers available for voters?
Hand out any “Memos” for the day to the Judge
Ask Judge if they are running out of forms or other supplies
Ensure that the Polling Site Cell Phone is PLUGGED IN and CHARGING
Remind Poll Workers to wear badges if they don’t have them on
LAPTOP EQUIPMENT
Check ALL LAPTOP connections
Check mouse, keyboard, printer, and power cable connections
Are all cables secure
Verify the laptop is not running on battery power
Check the LABELS on the PRINTER
Add new labels if necessary
Verify SCANNER is working properly
Re-program if necessary
Check bottom of LAPTOP for overheating
Ask about WIRELESS connection [Has it been staying connected?]
Is the light on the AIRCARD card flashing YES NO
If No, shutdown PC, remove and reinsert aircard, reboot PC and check again.
If it is still not flashing call Julian Montoya or Bill Hensler
OTHER EQUIPMENT
Check POWER status on JBC
JBC screen should read BATT: OKAY AC: OKAY [The JBC should NEVER run on battery power alone!]
Check the PAPER on the JBC
Add new paper if necessary, make sure it is printing on correct side
Are the booths properly assigned?
Make sure NO eSlates or DAUs say “UNAVAILABLE”
Check the DAU for extra equipment
The Headphones should be connected and hanging out of the way
The Jelly Switches MAY or MAY NOT be connected but MUST be available
Perform battery check on eSlates and DAUs
The bottom right of the eSlate should say “BATTERY”
Check eSlate and DAU connections
The daisy chain cables connect DIRECTLY from JBC into eSlate & from eSlate to eSlate/DAU
Verify information inserts are securely mounted in booth
Check for instructions and write-in information sheets
Ensure the DEMO DAU is setup and operating correctly
Is the DEMO DAU manned by a clerk who is giving clear instructions?
Ask the JUDGE if they have any questions about setting up or breaking down equipment
EARLY VOTING ONLY - Remind the JUDGE that the booth daisy-chain
WILL be broken at the end of each day.
