                                Dr. Jennifer Tobin
This course examines the development of ancient Greek sculpture, architecture and
painting from roughly 6000 to 31 BC. Although concentrating on the region
occupied by Greece today, this course also investigates the artistic achievements
created in other regions inhabited by the Greeks in antiquity, such as what is today
Italy, France, Turkey, Egypt, and North Africa. By focusing on Greek art within its
historical and cultural context, this course will provide a framework for understanding
the meaning behind some of the most influential works of Western Culture.
