CODE OF CONDUCT AND SPORTSMANSHIP POLICY
Participation in the Leopard Lacrosse Club is a privilege that carries both honors
and responsibilities for athletes, coaches and parents. Adherence to the following
Code of Conduct will help to ensure a positive, rewarding experience for all
involved.
ATHLETES
_ Leopard Lacrosse athletes will display positive moral, academic and leadership
qualities.
_ Leopard Lacrosse athletes will show respect to officials, coaches and
teammates on and off the field. Problems during practice or games will result in
removal from the practice or game. Violent act towards a team mate, rather at
school or at practice or game can result in suspension from the team. *Violent act
means intent to harm. *on field violation will result in conditioning punishment:
running, push ups, wall ball, etc. Off field violation will result in one month
suspension from team
_ Leopard Lacrosse athletes will abide by all LISD rules concerning personal
appearance and grooming, including travel to and from all club related activities.
_ Leopard Lacrosse athletes will not use obscene or vulgar language,
intentionally violate rules, use illegal tactics or resort to displays of ill temper on
or off the playing field.
_ Leopard Lacrosse athletes will not openly dispute, argue with, embarrass or
challenge the judgment of the official. Discussions with officials concerning the
game shall only involve the team coach.
_Leopard Lacrosse athletes will exhibit sportsmanlike conduct at all time, winning
with honor, and losing graciously.
_ Leopard Lacrosse athletes will attend practices and games unless receiving
prior permission from the Coaching staff.
_ Leopard Lacrosse athletes will refrain from using alcohol, tobacco and illegal
drugs at all times. Violation will result in immediate removal from the team.
_ Leopard Lacrosse athletes will permit the Head Coach, anyone on the
coaching staff, and/or a board member to search personal belongings when
attending any Lacrosse sanctioned event. Should the player be found to be in
violation of any LISD/Leopard Lacrosse policies, the player’s parents will be
contacted and asked to transport the player home.
_ Leopard Lacrosse athletes will abide by the U.I.L. guidelines regarding
the "No Pass, No Play" rule, as adopted by the By-Laws of the Club.
_ All players must arrive 45 minutes prior to game start time. Unexcused late
arrival to a game will result in the player not being allowed to a play in the first
quarter. Continual unexcused late arrival will result in not being allowed to
participate in the game.
_If a player is in ISS or OSS: ISS – can not attend practices or games until time
is served; OSS – can not attend any practices or games until time is served and
the player is cleared by the school.
COACHES
_ Leopard Lacrosse coaches will be expected to adhere to the requirements of
behavior asked of the athletes.
_ Leopard Lacrosse coaches will strive to be proficient and knowledgeable in all
aspects of the game of lacrosse in order to provide proper and skillful instruction
to their athletes.
_ Leopard Lacrosse coaches will be expected to enact non-partial disciplinary
action towards any athlete not abiding by the athlete’s “Code of Conduct.”
_ Leopard Lacrosse coaches will not openly dispute, argue with, embarrass or
challenge the judgment of the official. Discussions with officials concerning the
game shall only involve the team coach or the designated team captain.
_ The Leopard Lacrosse Head Coach, anyone on the coaching staff, and/or a
board member may search the personal belongings of any player when attending
a Lacrosse sanctioned event. Should a Leopard Lacrosse Club or LHS violation
be discovered, the player’s parents will be contacted and will be
responsible for transporting the player home.
PARENTS
_ Leopard Lacrosse parents will be expected to adhere to the requirements of
behavior asked of the athletes.
_ Leopard Lacrosse parents will provide positive support and encouragement for
the athletes.
_ Leopard Lacrosse parents will display proper sportsmanship to Leopard
opponents and spectators.
_ Leopard Lacrosse parents will not openly dispute, argue with, embarrass or
challenge the judgment of the officials. Discussions with officials concerning the
game shall only involve the team coach.
_Parents wishing to discuss concerns with the coach may do so after practice or
after a game, not during.
_ During Leopard Lacrosse sponsored travel, upon notification that your son has
committed a serious club violation (i.e., use or possession of
alcohol/drugs/weapons), the parent agrees to make immediate arrangements to
transport the player home. The player will be immediately removed from the team
roster if the violation is for drugs or alcohol. Weapons will collected and
punishment will be determined by the board based on the facts of the situation.
_ As outlined in the club By-laws, in adherence with UIL’s No Pass/No Play, all
players are required to submit a copy of their report card to the head coach every
six weeks. If a player fails a class at the end of a six week grading period, the
player is not permitted to participate in games until the grade comes up at the
progress report time. If a player is failing a class at progress report time, that
player is not allowed to play in games until the grade is brought up by the next
report card time.
Disciplinary action will be determined by the Head Coach and Board of Directors.
For Players: Disciplinary action for violations of the Leopard Lacrosse “Code of
Conduct” will be in line with the LISD “Student Code of Conduct” up to and
including dismissal from the team.
Athletes, Coaches and Parents acknowledge, by their signatures below,
their acceptance of the promise to adhere to the above “Code of Conduct.”
