Garter Stripe Soap Sack
35 yds Blue Sky Cotton (organic or dyed)
Size 8 needles
Note: If you tend to knit tightly, please use a size 9 needle.
CO 17 sts loosely.
Row 1: K1, *increase in next st, k1. Repeat from * across: 25 sts
Row 2 - 6: Knit
Row 7 & 8: Purl
Row 9 & 10: Knit
Row 11 & 12: Purl
Row 13 & 14: Knit
Row 15 & 16: Purl
Row 17 & 18: Knit
Row 19 & 20: Purl
Row 21 & 22: Knit
Row 23: K1, *yo, k2tog. Repeat from * across: 25 sts.
Row 24: Purl
Row 25 - 27: Knit
Next Row: *knit into 1st st on LN and pull up loop, place it on LN. Repeat
once. Now BO 4 sts. Place st that is on RN, onto LN. Repeat from *
across. Cut yarn leaving about a 24” tail. Draw tail through last stitch and
tighten. Use tail to seam side and bottom of sack. Weave in ends.
Cut one length of yarn 72” long. Fold in half, secure one end and twist
until it doubles up on itself. You now have a twisted cord about 12” long.
Tie two ends together and weave through eyelets. Put a bar of
SWEETSOAP in the sack and you have a great gift!
Soap Sack can be machine washed on gentle and tumble dry low.
You can make 3 to 4 soap sacks from one skein of Blue Sky Cotton, so
have fun and make gifts for everyone you love!
