Challenges: Michigan led the Nation into the recession. We continue to have the highest unemployment rate and a very large number of foreclosures
and short sales. The number of REALTORS® in the state has also shrunk which is where we, the MLS, met our challenge in trying to continue delivering
the same services with reduced income.
           The distressed properties have also caused many headaches for our subscribers in terms of dealing with the banks as sellers and ensuring
that all offers are getting presented.
    Another recent challenge is that we’ve recently expanded into more rural areas where mobile homes are much more common and until now we
haven’t allowed mobile homes into the MLS.

Accomplishments: We’ve managed to offset the potential reduction in REALTOR® subscribers due to the economy by expansion through the addition
of two new Association shareholders and active broker marketing. This has allowed us to keep our staffing and our level of service intact for our
subscribers.
          We have also partnered with Fannie Mae to develop a REALTOR®-centric program to positively influence the short sales process thereby
decreasing on-market listing inventories, stabilize real estate in the area, and improve opportunities for REALTORS®.
          We’ve also partnered with ILOOKabout to integrate StreetScape photos into our MLS. The StreetScape library will contain multiple high
quality, panoramic photos of virtually every property in our market. We are displaying these photos both with the MLS listings and with our Public
Record Data.
