Please help me get to know your student by responding to the questions below. Feel free to use whatever format is most comfortable; the ideas are more important to me than the prose. Humor, gushing pride and measured criticism are all welcome. Your honesty is important, and know that I will treat these responses as confidential. Describe one or two major events you see as turning points in your student’s development and explain the impact. 2. What has your son/daughter found pleasurable about high school? What has been most challenging? 3. What are your student’s strengths and weaknesses? When are they most apparent? 4. How does your child study? What are her/his work habits like? 5. How would you describe your relationship with your child? How do you and s/he communicate regarding school issues? 6. What are your thoughts in terms of the best college environment for your student? (Consider size, location, academic rigor, political climate, etc.) Will financial aid be a factor in his/her final decision? 7. Are there any particular colleges you’d like your student to consider? 8. What assistance are you looking for from the college counseling office that you believe would be most helpful? (Please try to be realistic!) 9. Is there anything you wish to add that would help me in writing the school recommendation? (Educational background, special family situation, medical history, personal achievements, etc.)
