Scoping Study Statement
A Scoping Study for a Neutrino Factory and Neutrino Super-beam facility was launched on 26th July 2005 at 7th the Neutrino Factory workshop, held in Frascati. The aim of the Scoping Study is to define the physics case for the facility, to define a baseline design for the facility and the neutrino detection systems, and the identify the research and development programme required to deliver the baseline design. The Scoping Study Leader is Peter Dornan (Imperial College London, UK), and is organised into three working groups – Physics Working Group, led by Yorikiyo Nagashima (Osaka University, Japan), Machine Working Group, led by Michael Zisman (LBNL, USA), and Detector Working Group, led by Alain Blondel (University of Geneva, Switzerland). The Scoping Study will run for a year, and report at the next Neutrino Factory workshop, to be held at the University of Irvine, California, in …. The Scoping Study will be published in September 2006. The Scoping Study plan can be found at http://hepunx.rl.ac.uk/uknf/wp4/scoping/. Anyone wishing to join the scoping study should contact the leader of the appropriate Working Group.
