                                               Biography


Fraser Spafford Ricci Art & Archival Conservation Inc. (FSR) is a private lab in South Surrey,
BC providing restoration and conservation treatments for paintings, paper and sculpture as well
as preservation consulting to museums, archives and collectors within Canada and the USA.
The largest private lab in Western Canada, it has state of the art equipment and employs
conservators and technicians in each specialty. Lab treatments range from important Canadian
historic paintings by the Group of Seven, to documentary maps and documents in government
archives, to a treasured family heirloom painting or military memorabilia.

Ms. Spafford-Ricci, Principal Conservator of Fine Art, has a B.Sc., an M.A.C. from Queen’s,
interned at the Glenbow Museum, Royal Ontario Museum and National Gallery of Canada and
was Conservator at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum and the MacKenzie Art Gallery in
Regina.

Ms. Tara L. Fraser, Principal Conservator of Paper has a B.F.A., a Certificate in Chemistry,
attended the Queen’s Master of Art Conservation program and interned at Oxford Archives,
Queen’s University Archives and the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum. She held
positions of Preservation Coordinator at the Saskatchewan Archives Board and Conservation
Consultant to the Smithsonian Archives.

The FSR conservators are designated assessors for Heritage Preservation in the USA and have
carried out over 25 conservation surveys and assessments for Canadian and US museums and
archives including Bainbridge Museum in Washington state, City of Ottawa Art in Public Places
program, and the International Monetary Fund Archives in Washington, DC. The conservators
have also completed disaster plans for institutions such as the Surrey Museum, the University of
British Columbia library and the Fraser Valley Archives Group. They have taught over 50
conservation workshops to museums and organizations including the Saskatchewan Museums
Association, the Federated Alliance of Museums (Washington, DC) and the Virginia Museums
Association.
