Statement from the North Carolina
Association of Community College Presidents:
Admission of Undocumented Immigrant Students
August 1, 2008
The North Carolina Association of Community College Presidents reaffirms the
“open door” admission philosophy stated in North Carolina Community College
law. The “open door” has been a hallmark of the North Carolina Community
College System since its inception.
The undocumented immigrant admissions policy for the North Carolina
Community College System should mirror the current admissions policy of the
University of North Carolina campuses. Therefore, we encourage the North
Carolina State Board of Community Colleges to adopt a policy that would make
community colleges consistent with all other public higher education institutions
in North Carolina.
