Week 10 Lesson Plans Date: Monday, 10/15/07 Subject/Period: Beginning Drama (4th block) Lesson #: Week 10 Topic: Poetry Rationale/Purpose Grade Level: 10-12 Lesson: Poetic Interpretations - To assess student ability to do a poetic interpretation Learning Objectives - Demonstrate resonance, projection, and articulation - Demonstrate understanding of subtext and emotion through vocal and physical work - Self-evaluate personal choices and performances Standards Addressed - Identify basic elements of theatrical training, including vocalization, kinesthetics, and emotional and intellectual processing Demonstrate use of the body and voice as creative instruments Materials and Resources - Poems - Props Accommodations for Students with Special Needs - Vary instructional activities so that they will appeal to visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners Resource Students: Provide extra support using teaching assistants, parent aides, and student helpers. Supply visual guides and work samples. Break activities into manageable sections and record tasks on a weekly assignment sheet. Provide extra time to complete assignments. Create teams that support all learners. Procedure (Procedure with time plan, modeling examples, transitions, guided practice experiences etc.) Content: 10 minutes board Activity 1 Bellwork: Copy 5 vocabulary words/definitions from 70 minutes Activity 2 Poetic interpretation performances Students were required to write two things about their classmates’ performances: 1. Something he/she did well 2. An improvement he/she could make to set it over the top Students were also required to assign themselves a grade and write a 2-3 sentence reflection on how well they think they did on their performance. If time remains: - Theatre Games Homework - Study vocabulary (test is Wednesday) Assessment of Student Learning - Poetic Interpretation (50 daily points) Reflection/Evaluation – Reflective thoughts about lesson and suggestions for revision
