                        TAXI SCRIP PROGRAM
  What is Taxi Scrip?

• The Taxi Scrip program is for people who are eligible to use DARTS, or
  who are registered with Accessible Transportation Services.
• Taxi Scrip offers improved travel opportunities through a City-wide
  subsidized taxi service.
• Program users simply purchase Taxi Scrip coupons, book service
  directly with any local taxi company, and pay with the Taxi Scrip
  coupons.

  How Do I Register?

• If you are not registered with Accessible Transportation Services,
  please call (905) 528-4200 and we will mail an application form to you.
• If you are already registered for DARTS, simply call us at
  (905) 528-4200 to arrange to have your Photo ID Card made.

  What is the Taxi Scrip Coupon Book?

• The Taxi Scrip coupon book has a total face value of $40. It is sold to
  registered photo ID card holders for $24.
• The book contains a selection of $5, $2, and $1 coupons. For the
  visually impaired, there is one hole in the $1 coupons, two holes in the
  $2, and no holes in the $5.
• You are entitled to buy three Taxi Scrip coupon books per month only.
• Taxi Scrip is for the personal use of the registered photo ID card
  holder. Taxi Scrip coupons cannot be resold or given to another
  registered user or other person. Proven abuse of this policy will result
  in suspension from the Taxi Scrip program.
• Lost Taxi Scrip coupons will not be reimbursed.

•   By mail: Make your cheque or money order payable to “City of
    Hamilton”, write your registration number on the front, and mail to:
    Accessible Transportation Services, P.O. Box 340, Mount Hope, ON
    L0R 1W0. Please allow 2 weeks for delivery.
  How Do I Arrange Taxi Service?
• Telephone any local taxi company and book your ride. Tell them that
  you are using the Taxi Scrip program.
• The taxi company needs to know if you will require special assistance.
  If you use equipment such as a collapsible wheelchair, a walker, or a
  cane, be sure to tell the driver the best way to store it to prevent
  damage.
• If you are using a wheelchair, motorized wheelchair, or a scooter, and
  require a Wheelchair Accessible Taxi, it is advisable to book in
  advance and to ask for a cost estimate.
    How Do I Pay the Taxi Driver?
•   Show the driver your photo ID card if requested to prove that you are
    eligible to use Taxi Scrip.
•   Use your Taxi Scrip coupons to pay the fare shown on the meter.
•   If the meter fare is not an even dollar amount then you must pay the
    extra amount in coins. The taxi driver will not provide change from
    Taxi Scrip coupons, so please plan ahead!
•   If you want to tip the driver, you must do so with your own money.
•   One or more friends may accompany you, up to the capacity of the
    vehicle, at no extra cost.
