In re: Merrill Lynch Clearing Account
To transfer stock to our account for liquidation and transfer to your parish at an extremely low,
diocesan subsidized fee structure, please do the following:
1. Contact Susan LaFreniere at Diocesan House to alert her to the impending transaction:
Provide the donor’s name, parish name, number of shares, and what stock is being donated so
it will be known to whom the proceeds should be directed. Privacy laws will not let the brokers
transmit that information! A form for this called “Merrill Lynch Trade Form” is on the
diocesan web site, www.ctdiocese.org.
2. Our account information:
Diocesan account and DTC numbers must be provided to the sending agent, but we do not post
our account information on the web site. Please contact Susan LaFreniere or Jack Spaeth to
receive these numbers by telephone or fax.
Our contact at Merrill Lynch is Margaret Woods (formerly Czarzasty)
Cityplace II – 14th Floor
185 Asylum Street
Hartford, CT 06103
3. Instruct your broker to transfer the stock to the above account. When stock is sold, a check will
be released within three business days to the diocese, subsequently moved through our clearing
account and the transfer check issued to the parish. All necessary information to acknowledge
and document the gift to the donor is forwarded to the parish with the check. This includes the
high and low prices on the day of receipt.
4. Call Susan LaFreniere at ext. 125 or me at ext. 101 if you have questions!
