We’ve put a little thought into
clear and simple
Simple, clear and concise
We’re always keen to find ways of improving the service you
enjoy at Ulster Bank. That’s why we’ve redesigned your old bank
statement, so that you can now enjoy a clearer, at-a-glance record
of your finances that’s much easier to use and understand.
We’ll guide you through it
The next statement you’ll be sent will be in the new format, so we’ve compiled this useful guide to help
you get used to the new design.
So what’s new?
Firstly, the overall appearance and size of your statement will
change. The new one will be smaller but with more information,
making reference and storage that bit easier. You’ll also find:
• A summary sheet providing an instant overview of the debits or credits to your account, along with a
closing balance. We’ve included a sample summary page in this guide
• Transaction sheets will be numbered, starting from number one, to make it easier to keep track of your
finances in the longer term. A sample transaction page is also included in this guide
• A Useful Information section will appear on the reverse of each page which will include Frequently Asked
Questions and Answers
• No abbreviations will appear on your new statement. You’ll now get a full description of each transaction,
so for instance, in place of ‘DD’, you’ll now see ‘Direct Debit’
• Credit interest will be shown on just one line of your transaction sheet, and will be recorded as gross
or net, depending on your tax status
• Deposit Interest Retention Tax (DIRT) will be calculated where applicable and deducted from the credit
interest applied to your account
Other helpful features
Choose when to receive your statements
You’ll continue to receive a statement as regularly as you do now. But if you’d rather have your statement
sent weekly, monthly, or just once a year, you can just let us know and we’ll make sure it happens.
Information for your tax return
Your first statement of the new tax year for a credit interest bearing account will automatically report
the total gross and net interest for the previous year. This will appear on your summary sheet.
If you or someone you know has difficulties in reading statements, we can send them out in Large Print,
Braille format or on Audio. To arrange this, simply contact your local Ulster Bank branch.
