Summer 2008 Collection focuses on fashion-driven styles in organic cotton
Sc otts da le, A ri z. ( April, 2008) – Spiritual Gangster’s green conscience gets brighter with a brand
new line of eco-fashion driven style in 100% organic cotton t-shirts. The mission is to provide
sustainable and fashion-forward clothing for anybody who wants to leave a lighter footprint on the
planet. Projecting positive messages, while simultaneously utilizing organic cotton, Spiritual Gangster’s
approach is to create awareness through environmentally conscious and globally mindful designs. The
summer 2008 collection includes a brand new set of eco-friendly buzz words and designs to get the
message across: “Live Green, Please Recycle”, “Imagine a World of Peace”, and “Happiness is the Way”.
“I believe that all good things, both socially and environmentally, are rooted in peace and love and are
the responsibility of the individual to cultivate through action. I wanted the messages of Spiritual
Gangster’s summer collection to take this into consideration with a more personal approach and when
they are combined with organic cotton, the message is that much stronger,” says lead designer and
master yogi Vanessa Lee.
With a playful approach to promoting social and environmental awareness and in tune with the high
energy of summer, Lee uses bright summer colors like coral peach, sunshine yellow, and bright orange
in many of the summer designs. Taking inspiration from her gurus and socially active star musicians,
Vanessa quotes Jack Johnson, “It’s not about who you love, it’s all about do you love”, and Michael
Franti, “I believe in the miracle, I believe in the spiritual, I believe in the one above, I believe in the one I
love.”
The Summer 2008 collection will be launched at E art h Da y LA, a celebration at the Wilshire Center in
Los Angeles spearheaded by Spiritual Gangster friends, Michael Franti and Seane Corn with a live
concert and yoga demonstration.
Created by Ian Lopatin and Vanessa Lee of At O ne Yo ga in 2005, Spiritual Gangster is “clothing for
high vibration living” designed for those who use fashion as a personal statement. Quickly becoming a
popular new line selling in the yoga community and beyond, Spiritual Gangster is a bestseller in many
boutiques nationally and internationally. Every season shoppers eagerly await the next series of
messages and images that become their new mantra. Retailing from $29 to $39 USD, the line is
tailored for men and women in a variety of styles, including: tank tops, t-shirts, long-sleeved t-shirts,
and thermals. Bringing good karma to alternative fashion, a $1 donation will be made to Off t he Ma t,
Int o t he W orl d with the sale of every shirt. Spiritual Gangster can be purchased directly at
www. sp irit ual ga ngste r. net and can be found at yoga studios and boutiques worldwide.

FACT SHE ET
BE HIN D TH E ME ANI NG OF “S PIRIT U AL G AN G STE R”
Spiritual Gangster represents the dichotomy between two
polar opposite forces. The first force, spirituality, a highly
involved mentality, involves a person’s sense of peace,
purpose, connection to others as well as beliefs about the
meaning of life. The second force, gangster, a street-level
mentality, is a member of a group of people who work or
hang out together, a community. By combining these two
words and ideas we create a style of yoga and living, which
is accessible, inclusive, and representative of the
dichotomy within ourselves. Using the ancient techniques
of yoga, one can learn to balance these opposing forces
within the body to create harmony and peace. Once inner
peace is obtained, a level of consciousness is achieved in
which one may focus attention on a higher purpose such as
philanthropy and the giving of oneself to others.
Organizations which Spiritual Gangster support include Off
the Mat Into the World, Cambodian Children's Fund, and
Trees for the Future. Spiritual Gangster dedicates itself to creating a promising future for our
youth through the creation of a collective consciousness and awareness to the masses who will
envision and create a better tomorrow by willingly giving of themselves to the environment, the
people, and the animals of this planet. May we all be Souljahs for Change!
