Figure 1 (Google search “Love”) Introduction Is it the understanding we have for one another? Or, the bond we have between one another? In our world today, we see all forms of love. They range from motherly love, friendship love, a lovers love between a man and a women, and the love we have for one another as a living community, all this lies under the positive aspect of love. Love can be a beautiful thing, if we learn to love one another the right way. As everything in life has its positive side, love also being a part of life has its negative. This can be characterized as jealousy, revenge, irony etc. All these can be characterized to lie under the negative aspect of love. To further our knowledge and understand of what love is about, here are the key points that we need to know, to understand and acknowledge of what love truly is. Positive Aspects of Love includes: Affection Happiness Joy Caring Passion Negative Aspects of Love includes: Jealousy Revenge Irony Lust Hate Dawit Hailu ENG 352-Technical Writing 4/2/2009 -3- Love’s Becoming Positive Aspects of Love Passion Affection Happiness Joy Caring Figure 2 (Google search Happy people) Affection: The fond attachment and devotion we show to the ones we love, usually affection is what we say revolves between lovers, as it is a sign to show how much love we have for each other, which later leads us to happiness. Happiness: The point in life where an individual is delighted, pleased or glad over a particular thing. In this case being love. Joy: the emotion of great delight or happiness caused by something exceptionally good or satisfying in this case love, being the delight and “joy” we get from it. Caring: a state of mind in which an individual is concerned about another person, usually due to one’s affection for the other. Passion: is the very definition that drives love. The powerful or compelling emotion or feeling that we get from love lies under passion. It is the essential that we need for love, as it is the symbolism of what love is. Figure 3 (Google search unhappy) Jealousy: is what we see when a person looks at another as a figure who they want to be, they plead on becoming them or even be better than them. Usually leads to rivalry, and hate. Revenge: mainly caused because of the harsh feeling a person faces from another person’s doing. They will act on their own behalf to repay what had happened to them the same way their feelings where hurt. The thought of revenge also leads to hate. Irony: The feedback we get from accomplishing something that wasn’t positive, the guilt one faces with the idea of not contributing to something they love and realize what they could have had is no more. Lust: The craving we have for love in an inappropriate way or an uncontrolled desire we have for someone. This can lead to distraction of seeing what is really not their, meaning a love that was never ours, but a love we used for our own gain not for the other. Hate: The essential that derives the negative aspect of love. The idea to dislike intensely or passionately, or to not like what a person stands for and be completely against their state of mind is where the word hate lies. It is the point which leads us to confusions and misunderstandings of love. Note: The definitions of the terms mentioned above are definitions relating to the theme of Love, as they can refer to others as well, but in this case we are considering our theme of love. Step of Love is the necessary steps we need to have a successful and prosperous understand of love which can lead us to a better understanding of love, and better us as individuals and designate us to a loving community. Here below I have characterized them in five steps for clarification. Step1: Make a commitment to overcome marital conflicts; such as the arguments we face with each other and the little things that cause us to dispute with one another should be left out. Step2: Identify habits that cause unhappiness; this can help us identify our weaknesses with each other and lead us to better our weakness. This can be also stir a better understanding of who we are inside and outside. Step3: Learn to overcome mistakes; mistakes are a part of life, one cannot live without making mistakes, as it is a means of which we can learn and prevent from doing the same wrong again. Step4: Identify the most important emotional needs; by doing so we can see what we want from one another. The joy of giving a person what they want to have and hear is a great joy indeed, and this can be a beautiful thing for it shall bring us closer to step 5. Step5: Learn to meet those needs; once we identify and plan our needs for one another, it will better mold us for the preparation we face when, we need to come to the needs of others. Dawit Hailu ENG 352-Technical Writing 4/2/2009 -6- Love’s Becoming Step conclusion: As each and every step is interdependent to each other, they have to be followed in that particular order, they run on the fact that step 2 has to be done if we have done step 1 vice versa. Note: The above definitions of “Step of Love”, is a definition created for the purpose of this procedure and is not a known word. What Can We Conclude? Our world is a large and vast living community. All sorts of thought and ideas flow through the very minds of each and every individual. These thoughts and ideas have come to shape what a person really is and what they stand for. The main theme of this procedure being love is a thought that goes through each and every mind in this community. From the positive aspect of it to the negative, we as inhabitants to this world have to adapt and adjust to better our relationship with one another. This can be done in steps in which we can follow to lead us to a loving and prosperous future.
