RCAP UPDATE OHIO RURAL WATER ASSOCIATION 2007 Annual Conference & Exposition OHIO RCAP specializes in helping communities obtain financing for water and wastewater projects. Mission RCAP’s mission is to empower and assist rural low-income people to improve the quality of life in their communities. What is New? • TRAINING – Utility Management for Local Officials – Financial Management for Local Officials – Asset Management, Budgeting & Rate Setting for Local Officials – Applied Asset Management, Budgeting & Rate Setting for Local Officials (in development) Training Results • 400 participants so far this year representing over 200 communities • Last three years over 1,000 participants representing nearly 400 communities. Community Action Commission, Inc. in Fremont, Ohio. Who funds RCAP? • The Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) • United State Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Utilities Service (RUS) • Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) • Ohio Environmental Protection Agency RCAP works with small communities concentrating on the communities management and financial needs. RCAP services are provided free of charge to communities or community projects that serve a population of 10,000 or less. RCAP field staff work with community leaders to identify the problem, find affordable solutions, and successfully complete the project.
