What is the Andy Collins for Kids Story?
•The ACK Fund was established in 1996 in memory of Andy Collins, a local area businessman and dear friend to many people
•Andy died suddenly in 1996 at the young age of 46 •He was an out-going, fun-loving & generous person who had a tremendous love of children •His friends, who now comprise the Board of Directors of the Charity, wanted to keep his spirit alive •ACK was established to raise funds in his name to benefit children via The Montreal Children‟s Hospital Foundation •Known as “Uncle Buck” to many of his friends‟ children, we adopted the nickname of “The Uncle Buck Rub Duck Fund”

• First and foremost, we keep the “fun” in fundraising • Andy Collins for Kids‟ sole mission is to benefit children through creative fundraising
Vision Statement
• To continue in the spirit of Andy Collins whose enjoyment of life, generosity, love of children and ability to unite people was unique • The Andy Collins for Kids fund was established in 1996 to keep his memory and zest for life alive
• Andy Collins for Kids is an established & self-sustaining Charity aimed at: •Supporting the medical treatment and research advances aimed at improving the quality of care for sick children •The continued growth in the level of our fundraising •Broadening our reach to the community •Engaging the business community in support of our cause •While preserving Andy‟s fun-loving spirit in the process
Putting the Fun and Compassion back into Fundraising
Fundraising
•Our first fundraising event was the 1st annual „Andy Collins for Kids Golf and Funday‟ held August 2, 1997, one year and one day after Andy‟s death. We raised $27,500! •ACK just celebrated its tenth anniversary Golf & Funday which is now our primary fundraising event.
•Other sources of funds over the last 9 years include: –Private donations – Holiday raffles –Silent auctions – Memorials –Memberships –Cooperative efforts with various groups
Allocation of Funds
•ACK is a volunteer run organization.
•To date, we have succeeded in donating over $775,000 to the Montreal Children‟s Hospital Foundation. •Working with the MCH Foundation, the board actively directs funds to specific programs & projects at the MCH.
•We are proud of the fact that 100% of all donations to “Andy Collins for Kids” to date goes directly to the MCH Foundation.

Allocation of Funds
•The Andy Collins for Kids Endowment Fund (40%) •Laying the foundation for a solid future of support of the MCH. •Support of Special Projects (20%) •Support of special research projects, accommodating those companies, individuals or groups who wish to donate to an area of specific concern.
•For the Kids Fun! (20%) •The Tip of the Toes Program – Sponsoring one child every year on a wilderness adventure that brings together pediatric cancer patients from all across Canada. •The Dr. Clown Program – A program of professionally trained clowns who visit the MCH twice per week bringing their own brand of therapy and fun to a sick child‟s day.
Allocation of Funds – International Nomenclature Project for Congenital Heart Disease (20%)
•ACK is actively supporting the work of MCH based Dr. Cristo Tchervenkov, one of the world‟s leading pediatric cardio- vascular surgeons.
•Dr. Tchervenkov is spear-heading the work on this project to establish a international nomenclature & database for Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) diagnoses & treatments.
•Each year more than 1,000,000 children are born with CHD worldwide. •This work is vital in advancing the survivability of children suffering from CHD. The efficient & timely exchange of data on the treatment of the disease will be accomplished by the standardization of the scientific language for congenital heart defects into an international language.
The Montreal Children‟s Hospital – Facts & Figures
•Established in 1904.
•Part of the McGill University Health Centre.
•World expertise in pediatric genetics, trauma, cardiac care, brain behaviour and development and musculoskeletal care. •MCH emergency treats 65,000 – 75,000 patients per year.
•More than 50 outpatient clinics and programs respond to 150,000 165,000 consultations annually – one of the highest in North America.
•11 operating rooms, performing 7,300 operations per year.
Our Objective for 2006 - 2007
•Our goal is to break the $1,000,000 threshold in donations to the MCH Foundation by Spring 2007. •Along with our present corporate benefactors, ACK has been supported for 10 years by the generosity of over 1000 individual members of the community. •However, we realize that if we are going to reach our goal of “$1,000,000 by ‟07”, we must now focus our efforts to secure much greater support from the corporate community.
