Saturday 06 November
Depart Dulles International Airport, Washington, DC (late afternoon)

Sunday 07 November - dinner included
Arrive Johannesburg. After the airport money conversion is completed, travel to your hotel via a
short tour of Sandton and Johannesburg. Relax a bit prior to transfer to the House on the Hill for
a Cultural Dinner Festival.

Monday 08 November - breakfast and lunch included
Gather after breakfast for a tour to the “Cradle of Humankind” at the Sterkfontein Caves. From
here we go to Maropeng – a Stone Age site. An underground boat ride takes visitors through a
sensory immersion of the four elemental forces of nature: earth, fire, water and ice. After having
sailed past icebergs, volcanoes and braved curtains of water, molten lava, sheets of lightning and
fire walls, we land on the other side, billions of years back, to the very birth of our planet - in
time for an expedition of discovery. Enjoy lunch at Carnivores in the Cradle then spend the
remainder of the afternoon shopping for souvenirs at Chameleon Mall.

Tuesday 9 November – breakfast and lunch included
Depart after breakfast on a full day tour to Soweto – South Western Townships. The tour
includes a visit to the new Prestige Park and Orlando West, travelling past homes of the rich and
famous, houses of Winnie Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. We also stop at the
Mandela Museum, as well as the Hector Pieterson Memorial for a glimpse into the history of
SOWETO. You will have lunch at one of the shebeens - also described as taverns - in Soweto.
After lunch we visit the Apartheid Museum. Return to your hotel late afternoon.

Wednesday 10 November - breakfast and dinner included
Transfer this morning to OR Tambo International Airport for your flight to Cape Town. On
arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. After
check in and a quick bite to eat (own account) proceed to the ferry terminal where you board the
boat to Robben Island. After tour, transfer to hotel and check-in. This evening, you will go to
Marco’s African Café for a dinner featuring African specialties and entertainment.

Thursday 11 November - breakfast included
Depart for the full day Cape Peninsula Tour - The Cape Peninsula forms part of the Cape Floral
Kingdom, and more indigenous plant species per square meter are found here than anywhere else
on earth. The coastline of the Peninsula has more than a hundred beaches with dazzling white
sands, and this tour offers magnificent viewpoints to some of them. On this round-trip of the
Peninsula, you visit the following highlights: Cape Point where the two oceans meet, the fynbos
rich Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, and a visit to Boulders Beach where we can see
penguins in their natural habitat.

Friday 12 November - breakfast and lunch included
Depart this morning for a full day tour of Cape Town Townships. Tour includes: the District Six
Museum (with guided tour provided by museum employee who lived through the experience),
Bo-Kaap, Chris Hani Independent School, and lunch at Lelapa Restaurant, Langa - the Guga
S’Thebe Arts & Culture Centre, Shebeen (informal pub).

Saturday 13 November - breakfast and lunch included
You depart after breakfast for a full day Winelands tour. Dominated by Indigo Mountains, the
Cape wine routes are immensely popular throughout the year. The wine lands provide wonderful
opportunities for wine lovers to sample some noble vintages and explore exquisitely furnished
Cape Dutch manor houses. Highlights of this tour include Paarl with its rich history of wine
making and the role it played in the development of the Afrikaans language, Nederburg Estate,
and Franschhoek Valley where French settlers settled after fleeing persecution in France in the
late 17th century. You spend the afternoon in Stellenbosch with its many historic buildings and
some unique shopping opportunities. Lunch at MOYO AT SPIER.

Sunday 14 November - breakfast included
Depart this morning for a half-day City Tour and Table Mountain: *Cape Town, Tavern of the
Seas, with the majestic Table Mountain as a backdrop, is one of the most beautiful cities in the
world. An electric mix of architectural styles, cobble stone streets and cultural diversity enhance
the cosmopolitan ambience. Our first stop is at the Table Mountain cableway to ascend the
mountain (weather permitting). Enjoy the spectacular views over the Cape Flats, Cape Town
and the Cape Peninsula National Park. Free time this afternoon.

Tuesday 16 November - breakfast and lunch included
Check out hotel for transfer to Johannesburg airport for flight to Zambia. Arrive Livingstone,
Zambia and go directly to lunch at Amadillo. After lunch transfer to the hotel for check-in.
Later this afternoon, continue to Mukuni village, an opportunity to see how the local people live
in a real African village. You will see how huts are built and decorated, meet residents and see
the locals at work creating curios. Return to your hotel for dinner (not included).

Wednesday 17 November - breakfast included
Depart hotel to the border post. After immigration procedures, board private ferry to cross the
A’Zambezi River to where the borders of Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Botswana meet in
the middle of the river. A photographic stop will be made here acknowledging the meeting of 4
countries. Once across the river, at Kasane, Botswana, you will board a river safari cruise boat
on the shores of the Chobe River. Cruise along the banks past numerous islands enjoying
sightings of vast elephant herds, numerous buffalo, antelope and other grazing animals. Catch
sight of endless bird life while watching out for hippos grunting in the shallows and crocodile
lying in wait. After lunch, set out in open 4x4 vehicles to explore the scenic wilderness of Chobe
National Park on land. The most prominent feature of the Chobe National Park is the huge
concentration of elephants. It is not only the elephants that make this very special park worth
visiting, but also the astounding natural beauty. As the sun sets, return to Livingston and transfer
back to hotel.

PAYMENT INFORMATION
A deposit of $200.00 is required to reserve a space. Additional payments should be made
as per the payment schedule. Payment plan covers South Africa only. Add additional
amounts at your discretion to cover Zambia and Botswana.

CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY
Prior to departure, cancellation charges are as follows for land costs:
61 of more days prior to departure - $300.00
60 – 30 days prior to departure – 30% of land cost
30 – 20 days prior to departure – 50% of land cost
Less than 20 prior to departure – 85% of land cost
Airfare refunds are subject to certain airline restrictions and penalties.
No refunds will be made for any unused accommodations and/or any missed meals,
sightseeing tours or unused services of chartered transportation. All tours will leave
promptly as per itinerary from designated locations. It is the responsibility of the tour
participant to arrive on time for all tour activities and scheduled flights. If a participant is late
for a flight or prescheduled departure, it will be his/her responsibility to rejoin the tour in
progress and personally incur all additional costs.

INSURANCE
We strongly recommend that you insure yourself against possible cancellation,
personal accident, medical expenses, loss of luggage, etc.

AIRFARES
All airfares are on regularly scheduled flights and are included in the tour quotation. The
fares are based on round trip economy class. Tickets will be issued as per your name on
the passport. Any changes to the issued tickets will incur a fee of $300.00. Seats are
assigned at the discretion of the airline and may be changed by the carrier without notice
due to a change in equipment or schedule.

BAGGAGE
Economy class allowance per tour participant is two checked pieces of luggage, free of
charge, 50lbs per piece, not to exceed 62 inches (length+breadth+height). Carry -on
baggage is not to exceed 45 inches. Luggage should have outside identification tags. Tour
participants are responsible for monitoring their baggage throughout the tour. Any loss,
delay or damage should be settled with the airlines directly. Baggage insurance is strongly
recommended.
TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
U. S. citizens must have a valid passport to travel. Your passport must be valid for six
months after your return to the U.S. A visa is not required for U.S. passport holders to
South Africa; however, the optional tour to Zambia will require a visa and it must be
obtained prior to departure from the Zambia Embassy in Washington, DC. The cost is
$135. We require a clearly readable copy of the passport page and visa containing your
personal data and signature. South Africa requires three consecutive unused visa pages in
your passport. You will not be allowed to depart the United States without the extra-required
pages.

RESPONSIBILITY
Passport and visa, as well as compliance with customs regulations, is your responsibility.
Your participation in this tour is with full knowledge that certain inherent dangers and risks
may arise. The U.S. State Department issues travel advisories for areas where dangers
may be encountered. You may contact them at 202-647-5225 or
www.travel.state.gov/travel_warning.html to determine whether any advisory has been
issued for the area. Southern Circle Tours & Safaris will do its best to ensure that all
adequate measures are taken to avoid such circumstances but it and ZTEC are not
responsible for circumstances beyond their control.

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS
South Africa - No inoculations or vaccinations are required at the time of going to print, but
we recommend that you check with your doctor or local health department.
Zambia - An anti-malaria drug is strongly recommended, please consult your doctor.
