(Detroit, May 16, 2005) – After more than 500 million votes over the course of
the 2005 season, the newest American Idol has been crowned! Carrie
Underwood of Checotah, OK won the hearts of America and was named
American Idol last night on FOX's No. 1 television show, "American Idol."
Underwood, along with the rest of the top ten finalists, will entertain Idol fans at
Joe Louis Arena at 7 p.m. August 4 in Pop Tarts Presents American Idols
