In the 1960’s, a Civil Rights Movement began.
Some very important Civil Rights leaders of the the 60’s were Martin Luther King, Jr., John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson.
Why should President Lincoln be considered a Civil Rights Leader for the 1800’s?

President Lincoln should be considered a Civil Rights leader for the 1800’s because he took a stand for the African-Americans in our country. In his Emancipation Proclamation, he declared that on January 1, 1863, all slaves in the Confederacy would be “forever free”.
