(Financial Times)An Accenture report based on a survey of chief information officer
from 300 big companies and organization worldwide, suggests there is a wide
difference between what it calls high, average and low-performing IT organization.
High-performing one spent significantly less time maintaining and fixing systems, and
significantly more time building new systems. In contrast, average and low performers
devoted more time to maintain and fix legacy or older existing systems. The study
also found average IT organization would spend about 12 per cent of its time fixing
preventable problems, while high performers spend 5 per cent, low performer in 16
per cent. Respondents from government also admitted they had spent too much on
fixing rather than building for a new one. More than that, they were given less with
only about 5 to 10 per cent but were asked to give about 30 per cent more
