The above-mentioned sciences were known in the Muslim world as "the tools of knowledge" ('uluum al-aliyyah). Comprised with this and more important are what was known as "the exalted sciences" ('uluum al-'aaliyyah). These include Quran, Hadith, Jurisprudence, and Spirituality; Islamic Behavioural Science (Tasawwuf). The course comprises the three important aspects of one’s Islam; Aqa’id, al Fiqh, Tahzib al Nafs and a tool to begin with, which is the learning of the Arabic language. In other words, the most important thing to study is Beliefs (Aqa’id), then what Allah has made obligatory upon us and avoiding what he has made prohibited (al Fiqh), then acting upon those means, according to one’s knowledge, preparing for the Akhirah in a serious way, purifying the heart (Tahzib al Nafs), and a tool to begin with, which is the Arabic language. Students will be taught via the medium of the English language. Students are expected to progress further in the following 2nd year to understand the Arabic, mere using the Arabic textbooks.
