3-Year Elementary Alimiyyah Course (Certificate of Scholarliness)
Abu Zahra Foundation is dedicated to the traditional curriculum that is common in the
great teaching institutions of the past and present. The above-mentioned sciences were
known in the Muslim world as "the tools of knowledge" ('uluum al-aliyyah).
Comprised with this and more important are what was known as "the exalted
sciences" ('uluum al-'aaliyyah). These include Quran, Hadith, Jurisprudence, and
Spirituality; Islamic Behavioural Science (Tasawwuf).
Abu Zahra Foundation would like to introduce “the tools of knowledge" ('uluum al-
aaliyyah) in a 3 Year extensive program. The course comprises the three important
aspects of one’s Islam; Aqa’id, al Fiqh, Tahzib al Nafs and a tool to begin with, which
is the learning of the Arabic language. In other words, the most important thing to
study is Beliefs (Aqa’id), then what Allah has made obligatory upon us and avoiding
what he has made prohibited (al Fiqh), then acting upon those means, according to
one’s knowledge, preparing for the Akhirah in a serious way, purifying the heart
(Tahzib al Nafs), and a tool to begin with, which is the Arabic language. Students will
be taught via the medium of the English language. Students are expected to progress
further in the following 2nd year to understand the Arabic, mere using the Arabic
textbooks. It will lead one to going on further to study in other great institutes (in our
home country; *England, Egypt, India, Mauritania, Pakistan and Syria) “the exa lted
sciences” ('uluum al-'aaliyyah) which will also be comprised of “the tools of
knowledge” ('uluum al-aaliyyah) texts extensively.
