Dear Cook County Democratic Party Leadership, I wanted to inquire from you whether there was an official disciplinary process inside the Cook County Democratic Party for individual party members who conduct themselves inappropriately. If so, I’d like to officially go on the record and make formal allegations against the two Cook County Commissioners, who stole money from the taxpayers, http://www.myfoxchicago.com/dpp/news/Investigation_Reveals_BackDoor_Pay_Raises_for_Cook_Co_Commi ssioners And violated state law by declaring it as income to the IRS. What’s more, I’m very concerned that none of Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s nine offices have prosecuted these individuals for violating this law. I believe they’ve had plenty of time since October of 2008, when this story originally aired, to haul them into an Illinois court and indict them for their offenses. And since we all know that it would be a conflict of interest for the Cook County State’s Attorney to prosecute them, the jurisdiction would then fall to one of the Illinois Attorney General’s three main offices or six regional offices to prosecute. More importantly, I’d like to make official allegations against Cook County Assessor, Jim Houlihan, who has displayed an enormous amount of incompetence in his role. Not only did he raise property taxes in a market where property values are falling, but his office repeatedly refused to correct my homeowner’s exemption issue; which is costing me $1,500 of the $2,200 I’m paying more than the median household in Cicero. And if you’d like to see the details about my particular problem, I’ve posted an unlimited number of facts on my blog, http://therearecrooksinillinois.blogspot.com/ Which is a one-stop hub containing all my property tax bills, faxes, letters, and even laws concerning this issue. Please think of it as a case against Cook County government, which is undeniably behaving so poorly right now. And while I plead and borrow to make my next property tax installment, the 17 Cook County Board Commissioners who are helping Mr. Houlihan to my wallet by doing nothing in this regards, get to eat at Chicago’s most expensive restaurants if they desire, http://www.myfoxchicago.com/dpp/news/Back_Door_Pay_Raises_for_Cook_County_Commissioners_End So long as they keep the receipt and file it at the end of the year? And it’s all my money that they’re spending? And I have no recourse for getting it back? As a concerned taxpayer who’s getting shafted only for buying a house in the wrong year, I trust that you’ll see to it that James Houlihan is thoroughly punished for his neglect. I’m also trusting that you will make the punishment of those two crooked Commissioners a priority as well. I would also hope that you at least recognize that, by accepting federal stimulus money designed to correct the problems in our economy associated with the property foreclosures of people in my particular situation (who’ve lost a tremendous amount of equity in their homes and are now foreclosing), you are doing the complete opposite of what the bill was intended to correct by taxing us instead. Cordially,
