Energy doctor connects ‘flailing’ cords

few years back, Lisa Mattison struggled with the after-effects of a heart-wrenching divorce. “I was barely holding on,” she said. “I felt like I just couldn’t cope. My thinking was completely chaotic.” As though a gift from the universe, Mattison stumbled upon energy healer Sondra Lewis. At some other point in her life Mattison might not have considered trying something she knew little about, like energy healing. But at that point she was searching for anything that might help her cope. Today, she does not regret her choice to trust Lewis with her emotional healing. Stepping into the vast room in Lewis’ home — an open area on the top floor of the house, with large windows and green plants — felt calming to Mattison. “When I lay down on the table,” she said, “It felt like she had put me in a warm bathtub. I could actually feel my energy changing as I lay there.” Lewis, whose background includes four years of training at the Barbara Brennan School of Healing, followed by a 2-year graduate program with focus on international service, has run a bioenergetic healing and counseling practice for more than 16 years out of her home in rural Birchwood. Lewis also has training in the Hokomi Method, Past Life Regression, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), flower essence therapy, Myofascial Release and Matrix Energetics. Lewis has experience with Mattison’s emotional situation. “When you’re in a relationship with somebody, there are energy cords between you and that person. In a break up, the cords are broken. They are literally flailing about. In my energy work, I reconnect the lose ends, so that

Sondra Lewis, an energy healer in Birchwood, says it’s possible to move energy to make a person feel better. you can be free to connect to other people again.” Mattison instantly was impressed with the healing. She could feel it working. “It was such a strange sensation,” Mattison said of her first healing session. “I felt so much stronger. I felt I had more core.” Of course, all great healing work takes time — energy healing being no exception. The strength Mattison received from her sessions with Lewis made it possible for her to work on her emotional issues on a deeper level. “Through the discussions we would have after the healing work, I would be able to focus on a plan,” Mattison said. “A line that we used a lot back then was, ‘I will do whatever I have to, for as long as it takes.’ ” Energy healing seems to be a vague concept. Is it possible for someone to move energy around to make a person feel better? Lewis says yes. “We live under a Newtonian view of the world,” Lewis said. “Materiality is all there is. We have electricity and cell phones, but we haven’t taken it to a personal level. For a lot of people, energy healing is off the wall. Yet we don’t argue that we can turn a switch and our computer comes on.”
