FOX 4 KTBY-TV Launches
Prime Time High-Definition Newscast October 1st
Anchorage, AK – FOX 4 KTBY-TV is pleased to announce that it is producing its own
local newscast beginning October 1st in high-definition and featuring well-known
Alaskan talents Trill Gates, Jeanie Greene, Big Mitch and Eddie P.
According to General Manager, Kirsten Bolton, “FOX 4 KTBY is proud to be entering
into the news arena. Beginning in October, we are offering viewers a new choice for
local news. Our focus will be to provide a family friendly and uniquely Alaskan
newscast. To accomplish this, we have pulled together a strong team with deep Alaskan
roots. Our commitment to the community is to provide useful news and information that
will better serve and inform Alaskans.”
FOX 4 News at 9 will be delivered in high-definition and anchored by long-time Alaskan
talent, Trill Gates. Gates has 18 years of television and radio experience, most recently
as the morning show co-host on the top- rated country radio station, KBEAR 104.1. As
co-host, she kept listeners informed on local and statewide news. In addition to her years
of experience in media, Gates holds a Bachelors degree in Journalism and a Masters
degree in Education. After several years away from television, Gates returns to where
her career began…FOX 4 KTBY.
In order to develop a uniquely local newscast, FOX 4 News has partnered with several
local experts to cover in-depth topics of interest to Alaskans. These special segments
include a report by Jeanie Greene, producer of Heartbeat Alaska and well-known
champion for rural issues. Viewers will be treated to an entertainment report by two of
the biggest names in local entertainment, Big Mitch and Eddie P. Other highlights
include a business report by Tom Myers, Deputy Director - Alaska Manufacturing
Extension Partnership, and a health report by Dr. Ty Vincent, Mat-Su Integrative
Medicine.
FOX 4 News at 9 will air Monday through Friday and is the only prime time newscast in
the market. The half-hour newscast will be designed to keep viewers up-to-date, not up
late.
“We have invested in the most modern news equipment and technology in order to bring
viewers the first high-definition newscast in Alaska,” says Bolton. “This is the future of
broadcasting and we are excited to be at the forefront of this evolution.”
