Note: When you see 'switchhook', you may use your 'flash' or 'transfer key, if your phone is so equipped.

Call Answering and Handling Features

*Services marked with a (*) are special order. Please contact Telecom at 8-8500 to order that feature.


Call Transfer          Depress switchhook, listen for three fast beeps and then dial tone, dial desired
                       party, announce the transfer, then hang up.

Consult                Depress switchhook, listen for three fast beeps and then dial tone, dial desired
                       party, Consult -- third party hangs up, resume original conversation.

Three Way              Depress switchhook, listen for three fast beeps and then dial tone, dial desired
Conference             party, Announce conference, depress switchhook, begin three-way
                       conversation.


Call Hold              To Activate
                       Depress switchhook, listen for three fast beeps and then dial tone, dial #,
                       hear confirmation tone, Call is now on hold -- lay receiver down, or you can
                       place another call.

                       To Return To Held Call
                       Hang up -- your telephone will ring, and when you answer, you will be
                       reconnected to the original call

                       Or, depress switchhook, dial #, and you will be reconnected to the original
                       call.
Call Pickup*           To Answer a ringing phone in your pickup group: lift handset, listen for dial
                       tone, depress *, begin conversation

                       To Hold Call and pick up another ringing phone: Depress switchhook, listen for
                       three fast beeps and then dial tone, dial #, hear dialtone, dial *, begin
                       conversation.



Directed Call Pickup* Lift handset, listen for dial tone, dial 177, listen for dial tone, dial the specific
                      extension number, begin conversation.

Call Park              To park a call on the extension you're using: Depress switchhook, listen for
                       three fast beeps and then dial tone, dial 170 and hear two short tones, hang
                       up -- the call is parked.

                       To retrieve the parked call: Lift handset, listen for dial tone, dial 171 and the
                       extension number where the call is parked.



Directed Call Park     To park a call on any other extension: Depress switchhook, listen for three
                       fast beeps and then dial tone, dial 175 and hear two short tones, dial the
                       number where the call is parked.


Call Forwarding        To activate: Lift handset, listen for dial tone, dial 172, listen for three fast
Variable               beeps and then dial tone, dial the number where your calls are to be
                       forwarded (if external, dial a 9 first), hear two short tones, your calls are
                       forwarded.

                       Reminder Ring: If your line is Call Forwarded, you will hear a short reminder
                       ring on incoming calls. You cannot pick up the call until Call Forwarding is
                       cancelled

                       To Cancel Call Forwarding: Lift handset, listen for dial tone, dial 173, hear
                       confirmation tone, hang up, and Call Forwarding is cancelled.




Call Waiting *         To activate after hearing Call Waiting signal: Depress switchhook, listen for
                       three fast beeps and then dial tone, dial #, begin conversation.

                       Alternate between parties by depressing switchhook and dialing #.

                       To disconnect from one of the calls: Hang up, and you are then connected to
                       the remaining call.

                       Tone Block is available to prevent the Call Waiting signal, by dialing 110 prior
                       to making a call, or while the call is in progress.
Selective Dial Call   To send a Call Waiting signal when a busy CMU extension is encountered
Waiting*
                      Depress switchhook, listen for three fast beeps and then dial tone, dial 114,
                      listen for confirmation tone, dial the busy extension number, you will hear
                      ringing (the busy extension will hear the Call Waiting tone).

                      Tone Block is available to prevent the Call Waiting signal, by dialing 110 prior
                      to making a call, or while the call is in progress.




Ring Again            To activate Ring Again when a busy CMU extension is encountered: Depress
                      switchhook, listen for three fast beeps and then dial tone, dial 115, listen for
                      confirmation tone, hang up.

                      When busy CMU extension becomes free: Your telephone will ring 3 times (1
                      long, two short), Lift handset, you will hear ringing, wait for your called party
                      to answer.

                      To cancel Ring Again: Lift handset, listen for dialtone, dial 115, listen for
                      confirmation tone, hang up.




Intercom*             To make an intercom call from a single line set: Lift handset, listen for dial
                      tone, dial 120, dial the two-digit code for the desired party.



Speed Calling         To program numbers: Lift handset, listen for dial tone, dial programming code
                      111, listen for dialtone, dial the access code (2 through 7) and the telephone
                      number to be stored, dial #, hear two short tones, hang up.

                      To use stored numbers: Lift handset, listen for dial tone, dial access code (2
                      through 7), dial #.




Last Number Redial    To redial the last called number from your telephone: Lift handset, listen for
                      dial tone, dial #.
Distinctive Ringing       ●    One Ring means a CMU caller
                          ●    Two Rings means an external caller
                          ●    Three RIngs means a Ring Again call has become free
