I want to open by thanking our own Al Gonzales for

Next Meeting: Desert Storm. For most of us, it was just an event we watched
on CNN, but Al gave it a realistic flavor (burning oil, as I re-

Editor: David Reinecke 12 hours, I was poking around on some modeling websites and
came across The Small Shop. You might recall that they are
flanx2147@yahoo.com the manufacturer of the Hold-n-Fold tool for easily shaping
photoetch parts and that the owner was recently killed in an
accident. The company is still in operation, partly to provide
an income for his children. The company was running a 10%
off sale and it was the last 2 hours of the sale. I decided that
I had “stepped off the cliff” with the Myoko kit and had to
enter the “wonderful world of photoetch”. So I bought their
bestselling item and am now the proud owner of a Hold-n-Fold
tool. This made me feel better about the state of our hobby.
There are now more ways to make more models of more subjects than ever before, to a level of detail previ-
ously undreamed of. As for the disappearing hobby shops, it might just be that we are witnessing a natu-
ral evolution of retail methods brought about by technology. Be that as it may, I will always greatly enjoy
browsing the shelves of a real live hobby shop.
Looking ahead to February’s meeting, Chuck Stout will continue his fascinating Colorado Aviation
History presentation. And remember, our February contest theme is “Racing”. I look forward to seeing all
of you again on February 6!

Aeromodeling Expo February 9th at Wings Over the Rockies

February 9th from 10am to 4pm is the 4th Annual Aeromodeling Expo at Wings Over the Rockies. As in years past, we will be staff-
ing a "IPMS Denver Rob Wolf" table and we will also be co-hosting the Make & Take.

We will need 2 - 4 people staffing the Rob Wolf table, if some want to bring a model or two (please no more than that so everyone
who brings something can display it) please do so. We'll be doing the usual thing; talking to others about our club, benefits of mem-
bership, etc.

The Make & Take will be a bit different this year. We'll be partnering with Tom Grossman (the Iwata guy, as many of us know him)
and his most excellent gang of Make & Takers. Through Tom's connections he'll have all the kits, paint, glue, etc. donated from the
vendors. Since these guys are the experts, they'll be in charge and we'll just need 3 - 4 people who are good with kids and able to
take direction.

We'll break the day into two shifts:

9:30am - 1:00pm (including set up 9:30 - 10am)

1:00pm - 4:30pm (including tear down 4 - 4:30pm)

If you are interested in working either or both tables, either or both shifts, please let me know either by return e-mail or at the Febru-
ary meeting.

Jennifer

PS - Don't forget to wear your shirts and badges to the Expo!

B-1 Night at Wings Over the Rockies

On Tuesday evening, January 15, 2008, we were afforded the rare opportunity to climb inside of the cockpit of the B-1A
bomber at the Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum. We had pizza, salad, soda, and cookies, while Martin Sagara
used a slide show to point out the differences between the B-1A (at the museum) and the Air Force's production version,
      the B-1B.
