Judy Dillon has been involved in research administration since she started working at Duke
University 21 years ago and has been Director of the Office of Research Support at Duke
since 2001.

The Office of Research Support is the pre-award office for the Duke “campus” which
translated means all the schools at Duke except the Schools of Medicine and Nursing. Her
office handles the usual: funding opportunities newsletters, review and approval of
proposals, award review, contract negotiation, compliance monitoring and administrative
post-award matters as well as the Institutional Review Board for behavioral and social
science research. It is a busy office made all the more busy in the last five years or so by the
big push for internationalization in the academic community.

Judy received a BA in anthropology from the University of Michigan. She did a master’s
degree in Japanese language and additional graduate work in textile design and history at the
University of Wisconsin-Madison.
