Event Operations Manager, UK Pavilion, World EXPO 2010

Report to:        Operations Director, UK Pavilion, World EXPO 2010
Location:         UK Pavilion, World Exposition Park, Shanghai, China
Period:           7 months from April 2010 to October 2010

Job Summary
The Event Operations Manager will play an essential role in the management of the UK Pavilion visitor
experience as well as the smooth running of public and VIP events held at the Pavilion. The role of Event
Operations Manager is hands-on and involves managing a team of Guides responsible for delivery of the
UK Pavilion visitor experience, working as part of an in-house team to deliver operational support for events
and supervising external event production service providers. The successful candidate will be focused and
results-driven with a flexible approach to the challenges of meeting key objectives in a fast-paced, dynamic
environment. A proven understanding of how to deliver exemplary customer service is also crucial to this
role. Experience in event production will be a distinct advantage. Reporting to the Operations Director, this
is a shift-based position (40 hours per week, with occasional night shifts).


Key Responsibilities
 Responsible for overall supervision and management of a team of Guides to ensure the quality of the
    visitor experience
 Ensure Guide training programs are conducted effectively
 Management of on-site team members, both direct and contract staff, to provide operational support to
    all the public, business and VIP events and activities held at the UK Pavilion
 Supervise overnight event preparations when required

Qualifications/Skill required:
    Relevant experience in event management, preferably with experience in production and staging
    Proven ability to multitask and work effectively in a high pressure environment
    Excellent customer services skill
    Experienced at training, motivating and managing teams
    Strong coordination, communication and interpersonal skills
    Fluency in Mandarin and good command of English
