What is Web Editor?
The Web Editing System (Web Editor) is an inline web site editing and management system that enables you to
manage your web site environment and edit your web pages online. Web Editor is based upon the latest
ASP.Net and JavaScript technologies. It is an “inline” system, meaning it is incorporated directly into your web
site, and can be activated at any time by issuing the correct key sequence. Before we discuss activating and
using the editor, you need to understand a little about the structure and framework of your web site.

Web Site Structure
Your web site uses Microsoft ASP.Net template technology. Each page in your web site is encompassed within
a master site template that provides common functionality, including headers, menus and editor interfaces,
across all pages. The site template also provides the basic framework or layout for your site and segments your
web site into separate, editable components. Refer to the example below:

                                                         [ Header Section ]

         [ Menu ] [ Web Page Content Section ]

In the above illustration, the web site (each web page) has been divided into three separate sections: a header
section, a menu section and a content section; and each section can be edited independently of one another.
When divided in this manner, the header section and the menu section are usually contained within the master
template; and will therefore, be standardized across all web pages. Editing the header section or the menu
section on one web page will edit the master template. Therefore, the changes will be automatically applied to
all web pages. You need not edit the header or menu sections on each page individually.
The layout of your master template, and the editable sections, will vary based upon the selected design of your
web site. However, your web site template will segment each primary section of your site into logic units. If you
have any questions regarding the structure of your web site, please contact your account representative.
Regardless of the structure of your web site, you can edit any desired information on your web page by
activating the web editor within that section. Simply Ctrl-click on the text or graphics that you would like to edit.

Web Editor
To activate the web editor, simply hold the Ctrl (Control) key and click (with the left mouse button) on the section
of your page that you would like to edit. If you have not already done so, you will be prompted to log into the
Web Editing System.
Once authenticated, the section of the web page you chose to edit will be switched to edit mode, and the editor
toolbar will be displayed across the top of your web site. The editor toolbar gives you access to common editing
functions, very similar to any word processing software.

If you need assistance, each tool and utility is documented in the online help system, which can be accessed by
clicking the Help link in the toolbar. For quick reference, here is an overview of the main sections of the toolbar:
• Page Editor: The Page Editor button enables (turns on) and disables (turns off) the web page editor for a
selected section. Once you have logged into the system, you can either Ctrl-click on a section of a page that

data elements for the dynamic content of your web site (the data contained in your web site database),
including address books, photo galleries, news and event listings, site links, publication listings, etc. The
utilities available will depend upon the setup and functionality included with your site. Each of these utilities is
documented in the online help system.
• Site Account: The Site Account button launches another management tool. This tool allows you to setup
and manage your hosting account(s) and services. With this tool, you can create and manage your login
accounts, review your hosting setup and policies, manage the functionality of your hosting environment, install
any posted upgrades to the editing environment, perform site clean-up and maintenance functions, etc.
These utilities are also documented in the online help system.
• Site Statistics: The Site Statistics utility allows you to view the statistics reports for your web site. You can
view daily, weekly and monthly hits statistics, the number of unique visitors to your web site, and many other
  helpful marketing reports.
• Online Help: The Help utility is available at any time to help walk you through the process of managing
your web site. All of the utilities and functions of the web editing system have been clearly documented to
help assist you in managing your web site quickly and effectively.
• Logoff: When you are finished editing your web site, you can log off to de-activate the editing system and
