POSITION SUMMARY: The Vice President Sales has primary responsibility for
profitable revenue growth. The position directs all sales activity and collaborates with
Marketing and Client Services to ensure retention and expansion of services to clients.
The Vice President develops sales plans and forecasts, and makes recommendations
for product development. This position collaborates with Marketing to help develop
marketing strategies that promote and brand the Strategic Programs. This is a key
position on the Senior Leadership Team, and must maintain effective business
relationships with clients, consultants, and internal customers. Candidates must have a
passion for building the company, with a track record in consultative sales management
and positioning products in target markets.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sales Management:
Build and lead a high performing Sales Department. Prepare, and manage
strategic sales plans to meet short and long-term objectives and goals.
Coordinate all aspects of the sales process from prospecting through sales
presentations and contract negotiations. This includes, but is not limited to
RFQs/RFPs, pricing, proposals, and presentations.
Develop and manage annual Sales budget, including quotas and
compensation plans, in collaboration with Client Services.
Take the lead on team sales presentations for high profile sales opportunities.
Ensure employees in Sales are trained, measured, and coached in executing
sales processes and quality standards, in addition to company business and
human resource practices.
Provide accurate forecasts and reports to measure performance and results.
Interview, hire and proactively plan for appropriate staffing levels. Administer
group and individual professional development, training, and performance
reviews. Terminate when necessary.
Collaborate with COO on setting and implementing pricing strategies.
Marketing Support:
Participate in developing sales support material and graphics, select trade
shows, drive sales campaigns, and work with Marketing on internal and
external company branding.
Collect and communicate target market and competitor information.
Work with CEO and Marketing to strategize new product development and
positioning products and services in different markets.
Work with Marketing to develop Annual budget and implement plan.
Develop and maintain business alliances to support and enhance our
services.
Represent Strategic Programs and/or present workshops at conferences and
trade shows.
Provide input as part of the Senior Leadership Team on corporate strategy,
planning, accountability, organizational development, and succession plans.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree, Masters preferred, and experience in developing and
leading sales organizations, with at least 10 years of sales management
experience in consultative sales of services, including at least 3 years in
sales and marketing management.
Experience in sales, with proven performance against quotas.
Demonstrated leadership, business planning, financial analysis, and client
services experience.
Track record of increasing responsibility in an entrepreneurial environment.
Superior communication and interpersonal skills -- written and verbal.
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft products, including Outlook, Word,
Excel and PowerPoint.
Large group presentation experience.
