					        Precipitation Hardening
• The strength and hardness of some metal alloys
may be enhanced by the formation of extremely
small uniformly dispersed particles of a second
phase within the orginal phase matrix;this must
  be accomplished by appropriate heat
  treatment.The process is called precipitation
hardening because the small particles in the
new phase are termed as precipitates.
• Examples:Al-4.5%Cu, Al-6%Zn-2.5%Mg, Cu-
  2%Be, Ni-17%Cu-8%Sn, Ti-6%Al-4%V.
