For Immediate News Release (901) 398-6655 Radio One’s Cathy Hughes Slated as Guest Speaker at Nike Classic Coaches Luncheon MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Aug. 8, 2008 – Founder and chairperson of Radio One, Inc., Cathy Hughes, will speak at the Nike Classic Coaches Luncheon at the Memphis Marriott Downtown on Sept. 12. The Coaches Luncheon is an annual invitation-only event held to honor the coaches of the two football teams playing in the Southern Heritage Classic presented by FedEx, Rick Comegy of Jackson State University and James Webster Jr. of Tennessee State University. Cathy Hughes is the first woman to own a radio station that ranks #1 in any major market. Radio One became a public company in 1999, making Hughes the first African American woman with a company on the stock exchange. As the largest African American owned and operated broadcast-company in the nation, Radio One is also the first African American company in radio history to dominate several major markets simultaneously, reaching over 18 million black Americans daily.
