Job Title:                  Legal Secretary

Reporting to:               A Partner

Hours of work:              Full-time Monday to Friday (inclusive) 9:30am – 5.30pm with an hour
                            for lunch

Salary:                     Provided upon request

Clerkenwell. We specialise in the more complex aspects of personal injury and human rights

The Firm is divided into four Departments:
·    Clinical Negligence;
·    Complex Claims;
·    Human Rights; and
·    Personal Injury.

Overall purpose

To provide a full and efficient secretarial support to the legal professionals of the firm.

Main duties and responsibilities:

1.     Produce accurate documents from dictation, verbal or written instructions including the
       use of templates and precedents.

2.     Liaise with clients including arranging meetings and the giving and receiving of
       information and documents as directed.

3.     Proactively organise legal professionals’ schedules. This can include managing their
       diaries, arranging meetings, booking meeting rooms, organising parking spaces, hotel
       accommodation and travel arrangements.

4.     Establish and maintain efficient paper and electronic filing systems for legal
       professionals. This includes the timely and accurate filing of correspondence and

5.     Accurately open and close client files, efficiently undertaking any file management
       tasks delegated by legal professionals. Accurately follow procedures when preparing
       files for archiving.

6.     As directed, draft correspondence, minutes and meeting notes for approval by the
       relevant legal professionals.

7.     Undertaking time recording and the preparation and submission of bills if requested to
       do so by a legal professional.

8.     Distribute and despatch post (if requested to do so by a legal professional), provide
       refreshments for meetings, management of document generation including
       photocopying and reprographic work delegated to other support staff and outside

9.     Act as overflow for other members of the department.

10.    Promoting and facilitating teamwork by offering and seeking help whenever necessary.
