Crunchy Apple Crumble
50g plain flour ovenproof dish
25g wholemeal flour mixing bowl
25g demerara sugar sieve
37 ½ g margarine chopping board
1 cooking apple vegetable knife and peeler
25g gran. sugar or 5ml mixed spice plate, saucer
Instructions – a) personal preparation
b) collect equipment
c) collect ingredients – flours in sieve on bowl
marg and dem. sugar on plate
gran sugar / spice on saucer
apple by hand
d) set oven – Gas 6 or 200’C
1 Sieve the flours, tip bran into bowl.
2 Add marg, cut into small pieces and rub in using fingertips till mixture
resembles fine breadcrumbs.
3 Stir in demerara sugar. Leave aside.
4 Wash apple. Either - peel whole, cut into quarters, remove core, and
slice or - quarter, peel, core and slice.
5 Place half the apples in dish, sprinkle over gran.sugar or spice, add
rest of apples.
6 Spoon the rubbed in mixture over the apples, do not press down.
