                          is contracted to main-
                          tain drawbridges in the
                          State of Florida.

              CHALLENGE   Harsh salt water
                          conditions, heat, wind
                          and humidity present a
                          daily lubrication
                          challenge. Extreme
                          pressures are gener-
                          ated by the open gear
                          sets that are used to
                          raise and lower the bridge spans. Even greasing twice weekly with a NAPA® brand
                          aerosol lubricant, the grease would deteriorate quickly and get squeezed out of gear
                          teeth. Labor was an issue because it was taking 4-6 man hours per week to grease
                          one bridge.

              SOLUTION    SWEPCO Field Service Representative Greg Vafiades recommended a switch to
                          SWEPCO 604 Open Gear Lube because of its reputation for superior protection of
                          open gears exposed to salt water conditions.

              RESULTS     Results since the switch to SWEPCO:

                          ■ gears are now touched up once a month and SWEPCO 604 is reapplied every
                            three months as needed
                          ■ thousands of dollars saved on maintenance labor
                          ■ grease consumption cut by more than 95%
