Dear Fellow Alumni:

       Glad tidings from your beloved Alma Mater! The frenzied preparations and the
attendant excitement for the 109th Founders Day celebrations of Silliman University are
now being felt in all parts of the globe where our alumni are. The unique bond that
Sillimanians have in the so-called Silliman Spirit is felt even more when August comes
and the days lead into the week ushering in the highlights for Founders Day.

        This year, as we reflect on the theme, “Silliman at 109: Raised on Eagles‟ Wings”
(based on Exodus 19: 1-6), let us also take time to rekindle ties with fellow MassCom
alumni. Thus, it is our pleasure to invite you to be with us on Thursday, August 26 for
the following activities:

7:00 a.m. at the East Quadrangle            “Walk Live with Cathy Leonardo Carballo,”
(fronting the University House)             BMC ‟99, a US-certified walk/yoga trainer.
                                            Come in your walking attire. It‟s a 45-
                                            minute, 3-mile walk we will all enjoy. Light
                                            breakfast is courtesy of Metropost
                                            newspaper through its editor-publisher Alex
                                            Rey Pal, BMC ‟83 and Irma Faith Pal, one
                                            of our faculty members.

2:00 p.m. at the College of Mass            MassCom Alumni Homecoming. Guest of
Communication, 2nd floor, Guy               honor is Dr. Crispin C. Maslog, longest-

                                            Journalism and Communications, fresh from
                                            a 3-year stint in North Dakota, USA. If the
                                            number of attendees allow, we intend to
                                            hold an election of officers for a MassCom
                                            Alumni Association in coordination with
                                            the Silliman Alumni Association, Inc.

7:00 p.m. at the Dumaguete Press            MassCom Alumni Night under the initiative
Club Bldg., Rizal Blvd.                     of Ely Dejaresco, BJ „69, editor-publisher of
                                            the Negros Chronicle and manager of
                                            DYEM-FM. It‟s a potluck affair. A show
                                            band will provide musical entertainment.
       If you may wish to be part of the marching contingent for the Parada
Sillimaniana, which starts at 3:30 p.m. (assembly is at 2:30 p.m.) on Friday, August 27,
please register at the Alumni Affairs Office so that you can join the alumni groups.
Otherwise, you can choose to watch the Parada at the Filomeno Cimafranca Ballfield,
where a unity service will culminate the event.

        Please mark Thursday, August 26 as a red-letter day in your calendar. Hope to see
