Please find attached pictures of the students receiving their CIS certificates from Mark
Leppard, Principal of Doha College, Qatar. Presentations were made to Vartan
Shadarevian, Laura Vertigans and Ralf Yap

Vartan Shadarevian – 6th Form award
Name of Community served: Doha College and MUN

Brief Description of the Project: Vartan has been a
modest and highly motivational leader of Doha College
Model United Nations Club for many years. He is an
exceptionally talented high achiever.        He has
organised conferences at the College, taught younger
members, chaired committees, attended Athens MUN,
won a best delegate award at Georgetown University,
been a member of the Qatari Debating Team at the
World Championships and chaired the MUN Security
Council at the Qatari MUN Conference.

Laura Vertigans - Secondary Award
Name of Community served: - The Doha Local
Swimming Community

Brief Description of the Project: Laura teaches
swimming to children of mixed nationalities
including Indian, British and Philipino at a local
swimming club.

Laura has achieved a swimming scholarship for a
school in the UK and is an international recognised swimmer.


Ralf Yap – Primary award
Name of Community served: - Doha College - global buddies project

Brief Description of the Project: - Ralf is an outstanding
student with a clear international understanding. He has
contributed fully to the life of the School which has
included interacting with students and teachers of
different nationalities. His role on the School Council has
shown his leadership skills and commitment to making his
school an even better place for all. He had led an
initiative to set up a Primary School tuckshop, liaising
with a local business to do this.

Ralf has further enhanced the International links within
the school by being heavily involved in a "Global buddies" project. He has written
poems, letters and information as well as creating power points to get this project up
and running. We are now linked with a school in the UK because of the efforts of Ralf
and a team of Students.

Ralf is friendly, kind and helpful to everybody and is well deserving of this award.
