    • Instructor-Led Training (ILT) –Instructor led training
      provides the highest level of detail. Instructor Led Training is
      considered by all to be the most effective, as it best facilitates
      real-time interaction, in-depth information sharing and direct
      response to questions.
    • Training Videos – Training videos are effective for basic
      users that require training on only the simplest tasks. They are
      not recommended for advanced user training or training that
      involves significant changes to current work processes.
    • WebEx – WebEx is an effective method for training Power
      Users who benefit from live interaction with the trainer.
    • Quick Reference Cards – These “cheat sheets” puts the infor-
      mation your users need at their finger tips. Our staff will work
      with you to identify the most commonly used topics for each
      of your user groups.
    • Self-Study Manuals – Our self study manuals can help your
      users get up to speed at their own pace. Our manuals provide
      students with hands-on practice and reference material for
      continued use.
    • Train-the-Trainer – Once we have created training for your
      user the ISA staff can create instructor notes to accompany

Overview: Students will learn to use Report Studio to create new reports. Aggregation,
summaries, grouping and sorting will be covered. Students will create filters and prompts,
add detail and summary calculations, format reports, and create list crosstab and graph
reports.


Prerequisites: Cognos 8 Introduction and Query Studio or equivalent knowledge.

Hardware and Software: Pentium class PC, 256 MB RAM, 1024x768 screen resolu-
tion. Microsoft Windows; Internet Explorer 5.5 (SP2) or higher; ActiveX, javascript enabled;

    Overview: Students will learn to use Report Studio to build more advanced reports.
    The class starts with building a basic report and reviewing grouping, sorting, headers, fil-
    tering, and prompts. Then, more advanced Report Studio features are covered, including
    aggregation, advanced filters, prompts, and calculations. We also create a chart report and
    add advanced formatting to any type of report. The appendices cover additional types of
    Report Studio reports as well as Query Explorer.


    Prerequisites: Cognos 8 Introduction and       Report Studio Introduction or equivalent
    knowledge.

Overview: Students will review how to use Report Studio to create reports that utilize
Drill Through functionality, Master / Detail relationships, advanced charting techniques,
multi-layout reporting, and global prompting that are used in creating dashboards. The
dashboard techniques include: Creating and editing a page, modifying a portlet including
a muli-tab portlet, enabling communications between portlets and drill up, down and
drill through.


Prerequisites: Cognos 8 Introduction, Report Studio Introduction and Report Studio
Advanced or equivalent knowledge.

Report Studio MDX functions features are covered, including MUN, sets, relative time
functions, slicers, advanced filters using MDX functions, prompts, and calculations. We
also create drill through reports and have hands on labs on advanced drill up and drill
down capabilities.


Prerequisites: Cognos 8 Introduction and Report Studio Multidimensional Introduction
or equivalent knowledge.


Hardware and Software: Pentium class PC, 256 MB RAM, 1024x768 screen

covered will include building queries, sorting, grouping, complex filters, prompts and
calculation features. In addition, students will be introduced to charts, crosstab reports,
and Query Studio advanced features.

     Course description

     Overview: Students will learn how to answer business questions using Analysis
     Studio. Students will understand the hierarchical “Business View” of cube or multidi-
     mensional data and how this relates to drill up and drill down capability, down a level vs
     expand capability and nesting. Complex reports that utilize multiple dimensions, com-
     plex filters and calculations will be introduced. The source limits of web based reporting
     and how to use features like search to get around the limits will be explored. Modifying,
     printing, graphing and saving reports will also be covered.


     Prerequisites: Knowledge of the use of web browser to access the corporate intranet
     environment is assumed. Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and basic navigation.

     Overview: Students will learn basics Scorecarding and creating a Scorecard application. Examples
     of an ETL processes and Cognos Metric Designer will be shown. Students will learn how to load the
     Scorecard with data using flat files.


     Prerequisites: Participants should have general knowledge of        scorecarding methodologies and
     SQL. Knowledge of the use of web browser to access the corporate intranet environment is assumed.

OLAP MODELING SEMINAR
(2 DAYS)

Overview: This seminar is designed for those individuals that have the core concepts of data
modeling and business intelligence delivery. The curriculum of this class is presented through a process
of open dialog, examples and hands on learning. The instructor is an experienced training consultant
with a development background in these tools.


Prerequisites:      Attendance at formal IBM Framework Manager training, or the equivalent
knowledge.


Delivery Method: This is a seminar that offers an experienced senior developer who has the ability to
present key concepts and lead the group in a discussion. The instructor will lead the group through
discussions and hands on examples of how OLAP design is performed using the IBM Transformer
and PowerPlay tools. This is not a structured instructor-led class with a large training manual.

Performance goals

• Students will leave with live examples that can be used as the foundation
for planned development in OLAP
• Introduction of key concepts will lead the group to a discussion of how
those concepts are applied with Transformer and the various IBM Business Intelligence development
studios; PowerPlay Studio, Analysis Studio, Report Studio, and Query Studis. For example:
