It is a parent’s responsibility to make sure that their child understands departure procedure from the Club. Children choosing to leave the Center may not return until the following day. Weather related school closings Parents please note that on days school is cancelled the Boys & Girls Club will strive to have our facilities open for children by 8:00 a.m. (assuming road and weather conditions permit safe travel for staff). Facilities will be closed at 5:30p.m.on these days. Please verify that the Club is open by calling after 7:00 a.m. Program opportunities Photography We are looking for individuals that are interested in the art of photography. Learn to take great photos and enter them in a contest. This program is for 8-12 year olds and meets on Mondays from 4:30-5:00. Jr. Keystone This leadership program focuses on teamwork. Members will develop a commitment to their community and education. Jr. Keystone members play a very special role at the Boys & Girls Club by planning special events and acting as leaders for other members. This group works with the Keystone group. Open to all middle school youth and meets on Mondays from 5:00-6:00. Girls Fit Right This is a program designed to provide teen girls with fitness, healthy eating habits, fun games, field trips, and a positive social environment. Open to Middle and High School girls on Wednesdays from 5:00-6:00 at The Club. Triple Play Activities Check the schedule weekly for fun Triple Play events. We will have obstacle courses, physical fitness challenges, fun facts, and more. Challenge activities for all ages on Thursdays from 4:00-4:30. Girl Power Come and join Tiffanie for this girl’s only program that will explore craft projects, build friendships and do activities that just girls want to do. Open to all 6-12 year old girls on Tuesdays from 5:00-6:00. Dragon Fly Quest Science fun is what this program is all about. You will learn how to do experiments and figure out how things work. This program meets every Thursday from 4:00-5:00 for 6-12 year olds. Healthy Habits Cooking Open to all 6-12 year olds, Healthy Habits will teach you all about the food pyramid, measurements, and of course, cooking! Learn to make some yummy dishes and try them at the end! Meet Staci on Wednesdays from 4:00-5:00 in the kitchen. Computer Basics Learn Microsoft Word and Publisher. Use your skills for school work, to create projects for your friends or to gain a better understanding of the computer. Come and join Logan as he shows you all what a computer can do. The program is on Tuesdays from 5:00-5:30 for ages 8-12. Violin Lessons Learn to play the violin with Elina & Ping. Lessons are for those who are just learning or those who have some experience. Come and join your friends and create some beautiful music. The group is for 9-13 year olds Must be signed up in advance with Tiffanie, then you will be assigned a time. Girls Build Habitat for Humanity is teaming up with the Boys & Girls Club for the Girls Build program. Girls build addresses health and well-being by focusing on basic human needs (food, water, clothing, shelter, rest and love) and those needs are met in our homes and neighborhoods. The program has limited space for 8 girls between the ages of 10-12 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45-5:15. Sign up is required. Gym fun for girls, boys and 6-8 year olds Join us in the gym for some active fun and games from 3:00-3:45. Different games every week. Mondays are girls only gym for 6-12 year olds. Tuesday and Thursday for 6-8 year olds Wednesday boys only gym for 6-12 year olds Friday is teen time in the gym. Indoor Football It is Monday Night Football at the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh. Come down and join the team for some indoor football action. The game begins on Monday from 4:00-5:00 for 6-12 year olds. Art Adventures Calling all 6-12 year old members who love to draw, paint, and sculpt. Join Diana in the Art room to get creative and make masterpieces. Mondays are creative crafts days and Tuesdays are art adventure days. Mondays 3:00-8:00 Creative Crafts starts at 4:00 Tuesdays 3:00-8:00 Art Adventures starts at 4:00 Soccer for 8– 12 year olds Learn all about the fast moving game of soccer! Play in organized soccer games, score goals, make saves and lead your team to victory! 6-12 year olds can play on Mondays in the gym, from 5:00- 6:00. Kickball Join our kickball league so you don’t miss out on the fun! Open to all ages on Tuesdays in the gym from 4:00-5:00. Scrap booking There is so much to do in the fun and creative world of Scrap booking! Make bookmarks, photo frames, and even a memory book to keep forever! Be original and join Tiffanie on Tuesdays, from 6:00-7:00. Dollars and $ense It is never too early to be thinking about money management. Elementary youth learn the basics of money management with fun games and activities with friends. Staci is looking for elementary youth on Fridays from 4:00-5:00. Big Brain Bank Power Hour Program Now you can earn while you learn! Earn a Boys & Girls Club buck a minute as you complete homework, get help from a volunteer or staff member, practice lessons, or read silently in our Learning Center homework help program, Power Hour. On the last Friday on the month you will be able to bid on prizes and school supplies in our Big Brain Bank Auction! Daily from 2:30-5:00. Date Smart Gain the knowledge and skills necessary for establishing fun, safe and mutually supportive dating relationships. Be able to help friends and family members make healthy relationship choices as well. D.S. meets every Friday from 4:00-5:00 for 6-12 grades. American Girls Spend time getting to know Felicity, Kirsten, Samantha, Josefina, Addy, Molly and Kit, as we read and discuss exciting tales of young females from different cultures and time periods. Then take a special trip with our American Girl group to Apple Blossom Books to meet author, Valarie Tripp! This program is open to the first 12 girls, ages 9-12 that sign up. Let’s Just Play Let’s just play some new and exciting gym games, every Friday from 5:30-6:30. We’ll put a spin on the games you already know and introduce you to some new, wild and original ones, too! Open for all ages. Badminton/ Volley ball This program will give members of all ages a chance to play some games that they are not always given a chance to play. We will alternate between the two sports on Tuesday’s from 5-6. This will let the members learn the basics and have a good time when playing. Gym Adventures Gym Adventures will be for our 6-9 year old members. This program will give these members a chance to get in the gym and play with their own age group without feeling intimidated by the older members. This will take place on Wednesday from 4-5pm. Floor Hockey 6- 12 year old members will be playing floor hockey every Wednesday from 5-6. Join the floor Hockey team and have some fun! Teen Basketball On Wednesday nights from 7-830 the gym will be open to our teen members and give them a chance to come down and play basketball with their friends. They can play 21, Lightning or pick up games against each other. Dodgeball This will happen on Thursday nights 430-530 after Fitness Authority. We will play a variety of Dodgeball games but members must do Fitness Authority first before they can play Dodgeball. Little Dribblers This program will be for our 6-9 year old members to help them with their basketball skills and play games against each other. We will do this every Friday from 4-530. Holiday Parade-November 8th, 2008 (9-12:30p.m.) We are looking for energetic 9 year old and older Boys & Girls Club members to represent us in the Holiday Parade as banner carriers. Find a friend to carry a banner with from the corner of Main & Merritt over to 10th and Oregon. Enjoy a piping hot bowl of chili at the end at your Boys & Girls Club. Sign up is required because we can only take the first 30 to sign up. Boys & Girl s Club Members Vote The Boys & Girl Club would like to see who its members would like for president. Cast your ballet at the club on Thursday October 30th. Vote for the candidates of your choice just like your parents will on November 4th. Poles open at 9:30 and close at 3:00. Teen Soccer Play in organized soccer games in the gymnasium. Score the winning goal, make the pass or make the big save. Monday nights belong to teen soccer fans from 6:30-8:30 for 13-18 year olds. Keystone If you are in high school and you want to make things happen and be active in your club, community and school then join Keystone. The group meets on Mondays from 7:00-8:00. RHYTHM INSTITUTE Join the Oshkosh Rhythm Institute every Tuesday and learn the basics, develop your skills and perform in the art of drumming and percussion. Expert instructors will be on hand to take you through the steps. The 10 week program ends with an all youth performance. Join in the fun and join in the RHTYTHM on Tuesdays from 5:00-6:00. TEEN CUISINE Get to the CLUB early on Fridays at 4:00 to make sure you don’t miss out on Teen Cuisine. Treats, snacks and sometimes full course meals are on the menu at the CLUB. Learn what’s in it, how it’s made, and then you can go home and make it later. G-Force Middle school and high school girls wishing to work out in the fitness center and are looking for some instruction check out G-force. This program will help you develop a healthy routine of getting in shape. Meet in the fitness center on Wednesdays from 6:00- 7:-00. Money Matters/Career Launch Learn how to start a savings account, balance a check book, or save money for college. Get the facts about getting a great career and becoming financially independent. The program is open for 13-18 year old members and meets on Mondays from 6:00-7:00. Power Hour at The Club Power Hour, held in Club Tech, is a program designed to help students after school with their homework. The program will be run by volunteers from Ripon College. These volunteers have a diverse educational background, therefore, being able to cater to all disciplines of teen curriculum. Receive homework help every Monday and Tuesday from 3:00-5:00. Teen Fit Club Teen Fit Club is new program with a new face. This program is aimed to help our teens learn about exercise, diet, lifestyle, and making good choices. In this program you will be guided on the proper ways to weight train and do cardiovascular exercise. Teens will also be learning how to make life choices that will keep your body healthy. We are very lucky to have Natalie, a kinesiology student from The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, to lead this program. Join your peers in Club Fit on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00- 5:00. Skill Tech Skill Tech is a program geared toward educating our teens on how computers work and how to operate them. This program begins at the basic introductory level and gradually submerges into the advanced concepts of technology. Learn everything from keyboarding, assembling a computer, or creating web pages. Open to 13-18 year old members on Wednesday from 3:00-4:00. Round Table Round table is a program for all teens to discuss current events and teen issues. Teens often feel that they go unheard, therefore, it is the hope of this program to provide an open forum for our teens to express their thoughts and concerns about the world around them. Whether they are discussing school dress codes or the presidential election, they will have a chance to voice their opinions. Round table meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from 4:00-5:00 for 13-18 year olds. pARTy hARTy - Party Harty is an arts program designed for teens to use their imagination. Art activities can include t-shirt design, scrap-booking, photography, & stagecraft. We love to challenge our teens and hope that this program will teach them to think outside the box. Meets on Thursdays from 5:00-6:00. Groove School This is guitar lessons at its finest. The Boys & Girls Club has teamed up with Electric Guitarist, Jason Lipsky. Jason comes to the club every Friday and gives guitar lessons to our teens. Teens do not need equipment because The Boys & Girls Club provides it all. Join Jason on Fridays from 5:00-7:00 for all 13-18 year old members. Middle School Youth at The Club (Teen Center) We know that all of the 6th and 7th grade members who are not 13 yet want the opportunity to hang out with friends in the coolest teen space in the city. Thursday nights after 5:30 and Fridays after 7:00 is your chance. Call all your middle school friends and participate in dances, Karaoke, basketball tournaments and fear factor nights. Mark your calendar for every Thursday and Friday non-school days you have a cool place to be. Lights on After School October 16th Join the Boys & Girls Club as on October 16th for lights on after School. The Boys & Girls Club is open every day after school providing a variety of program for youth between the ages of 6 and 18. Programs focus on , education and career development, health and life skills, the arts, sports fitness and recreation and character and leadership. Late Fee Policy. Parents please know the Boys & Girls Club hours of operation and make sure that we have current up to date phone numbers on your children’s forms. There will be a $10.00 late fee for any child not picked up within the first fifteen minutes after closing and an additional $1.00 per minute thereafter. Children cannot attend any program until the late fee is paid. Funding provides Quality Snack Program The Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh provides a snack at the Radford Center and after school sites with the funding from USDA. In accordance with the Federal Law and U.S. Dept. of Agriculture policy, this institution is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability. Pick ‘N Save & Festival Foods Advantage WE CARE program is a donation program which allows you to donate to the Boys & Girls Club to raise additional funds just by using your Advantage savers Club Card every time you shop. A percentage of the total dollars you spend will be donated back to the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh. Just stop by the service desk and add the Boys & Girls Club to your Advantage Card application today. If you shop at Festival Foods, save your grocery receipts and bring them to the Club. Festival Foods will reimburse us one percent of your total purchases. Make your receipts count. Dental and vision program The Boys & Girls Club has a dental and vision program available for children. This program is for individuals who don’t have any other form of insurance or medical assistance. If you are interested, contact Tiffanie at 233-1414. Electronic Devices Club members need to leave CD players, I-pods, cell phones and other electronic devices at home. The Boys & Girls Club can not be responsible for lost or broken items Hats and Jackets Members must remove their hats and jackets while they are in the Boys & Girls Club facilities. This includes bandanas, scarves, and do rags. Please hang up items on a hook in the games room. School Attendance If for ANY reason your child does not attend school, they will not be allowed to attend the Boys & Girls Club that day. No costume is needed for this Halloween fun, just your presence. We will be playing Halloween games, making creations in crafts, and having spooky adventures. Christmas Party-December 17th, 2008 (5:30-7:30p.m.) 6-12 year old Club members come and join us for a Christmas celebration including food, crafts, & games. Family members welcome for this special evening including a visit from the North Pole. Teen Christmas Party-December 18th, 2007 (6:00-8:00p.m.) Teenagers come and check out some Christmas fun at the Teen Center. The party is open to all 13-18 year old Club members. We will have food, refreshments and special Christmas activities.
