Did you know that some of our Springtown High School (SHS)

students are also college students? Springtown ISD has a part-
nership with Weatherford College (WC) for our students to
receive college credit while attending high school in a program
called dual credit. The students that choose to attend another
college or university upon graduation may transfer their credits
from Weatherford College to another institution. Students may
enroll in one or more dual credit courses to receive high school
and college credit simultaneously. Some students have earned ~ Christmas on the Square~
up to 20 college hours while attending high school. Springtown
High School teachers providing instruction to students in these Saturday, December 12, 2009
courses must have a master’s degree in the subject area for 1:00—6:00pm
which they are teaching. Some of the courses offered in the
dual credit program at Springtown High School include: For more information please contact

Another element of the partnership with Weatherford College
and Springtown High School is referred to as the College Connec-
tion. This program promotes the idea to all students that col-
lege is possible. Staff members of WC come to SHS and help MARQUEE RENTAL
students with admissions applications, Compass tests, and
FAFSA applications. Participating seniors will have their appli-
cations kept on file at Weatherford College should they decide
to attend at a later time or if they come home from a university $10. per day

This is the end of great year! As the new Chamber Director, I am humbled by the com-
munity I serve. Your support of the Springtown Area Chamber of Commerce is a won-
derful thing. I wanted to take this last 2009 opportunity to thank everyone!
When I came on board the Chamber Directors were in the middle of planning Wild West.
It was very scary to have them demonstrate faith in me that I could do this job. Had I
known how much support I would receive from our Directors, staff and from all of you,
our members, I would have felt so much more confident. Five months down the road
has given me a very positive perspective of Springtown and the surrounding area. As a
member of the Chamber, you are a valuable part and there is great appreciation for all
Your Chamber staff is looking forward to another year of service to our businesses and
community. Please feel free to call (or email) the Chamber office at any time with com-
ments or suggestions. We want to provide the best service possible and your commu-
nication to us will help that endeavor. If you have ideas about different events you
would like to see in Springtown, give us a chance to consider those. Funding in this
economy is a handicap we face but we need to continue to bring new people from sur-
rounding areas into Springtown to give businesses an opportunity for more exposure. I
am convinced this community, as a whole, can do just about anything! I’ve seen you
accomplish so much in a short time. Truth is, I am proud of where I live and work!
Please help us help you by utilizing advertisements in our E-Blasts, newsletters, mar-
quee, banner board, water packets and welcome bags.
We wish you the very best Holiday Season! Lets join together with positive thoughts
for an improved economy in 2010 and remember our troops!!
