What is Sin?
1 John 3:4
 Whosoever committeth sin [266] transgresseth also the law: for sin [266] is the
   transgression of the law [458].
 One Word “Anomia” – Greek
 458 anomia an-om-ee'-ah from 459; illegality, i.e. violation of law or (genitive
   case) wickedness:--iniquity, X transgress(-ion of) the law, unrighteousness. –
   Strong LXX

1 Timothy 1:9
 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless
and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for
murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
 459 anomos an'-om-os from 1 (as a negative particle) and 3551; lawless, i.e.
(negatively) not subject to (the Jewish) law; (by implication, a Gentile), or
(positively) wicked:--without law, lawless, transgressor, unlawful, wicked. –
    Strong LXX
 To be lawless – to ignore or to be ignorant of God’s Law’s – HPM
The Origin of Sin

James 1:13-15
 13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am
tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted
with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
 14 But every man is tempted, when he is
drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
 15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth
forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth
  forth death.
The Origin of Sin

Matthew 7:20-23
 20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man,
  that defileth the man.
 21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed
  evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
 22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit,
lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride,
  foolishness:
 23 All these evil things come from within, and defile
  the man.
The Origin of Sin

Jeremiah 17:9
 The heart is deceitful above all things, and
desperately wicked: who can know it?
Romans 6:23
 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of
God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our
  Lord.
The Origin of Sin
Romans 7:14-25
 14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
 15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate,
  that do I.
 16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.
 17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
 18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will
is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
 19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
 20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in
  me.
 21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
 22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
 23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind,
and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
 24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
 25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself
serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
God’s Character
God is All Powerful
 1 Timothy 1:17
 17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise
God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
 Psalm 104:30
 30 Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou
renewest the face of the earth.
 1 Timothy 6:15-16
 15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only
  Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
 16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man
can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to
whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
God’s Character
God is just
 Romans 11:22

 22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them
which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in
his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

 Exodus 34:6-7
 6 And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The
LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and
    abundant in goodness and truth,
 7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and
    transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty;
visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the
children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.
