                                           Overview

I am an expert on SharePoint Server and have worked with all its versions: SharePoint Server
2010, MOSS 2007, SPS 2003 and SPS 2001. I have managed in excess of thirty SharePoint
Implementations to clients including: The Disney Corporation, Hewlett-Packard, Deloitte &
Touche, Kraft Foods International, McAfee, The International Criminal Court, Scottish Widows,
European Patent Office, ACC Bank and the London Fire Brigade.

For larger implementations, I have been both technical and business lead and for smaller solo
engagements provided the end-to-end solution. My main skill is as a business analyst who can
translate user requirements into a successful SharePoint solution. Specific functions within an
engagement include managing discovery and planning workshops, developing project
management processes, full architectural design and build of SharePoint Server farms, full
configuration and integration of SharePoint solutions and Project Server, training of end users
and system administrators and project management of the implementation. I have also developed
Workflows, Web Parts custom applications using the .NET Framework and the SharePoint Object
Model in C# and VB.NET.

                                         Achievements

I have been awarded Most Valuable Professional (MVP) status for SharePoint Server by
Microsoft for eight years (2002-2010). There are only 200 people in the world with this award. I
have three MCTS certifications: MOSS 2007, Configuring, MOSS 2007 Developing and WSS 3.0
Configuring and an MCP in Windows Server. I established and run the SharePoint User Group for
Ireland (www.sugie.org). I provide pro bono Information Architecture consultancy to NetHope
(www.nethope.org).

I co-wrote the SharePoint book Le portal Microsoft SharePoint and have contributed many others
including the SharePoint Administrators Guide. I run one of the largest online resource for
SharePoint Server http:///www.spsfaq.com which I have run for seven years and received over
three quarter of a million visits last year. I have also spoken at conferences all over the world
including being invited to speak at TechEd in Barcelona 2007.

Eirgrid, Ballsbridge, Dublin, Ireland, January 2008 – April 2009
Role: SharePoint Architect/Business Analyst

Gathered user requirements and translated these into SharePoint solutions. Mapped business
processes with SharePoint to provide new efficiencies to staff. Provided troubleshooting and
support for users to drive confidence and adoption of the SharePoint platform. Provided a
process that could be translated in to a project plan for structuring the transition over to
SharePoint including milestones, tasks, the order in which tasks should be done and the effort
required. Acted as a SharePoint expert to advocate and persuade both users and the IT
department as to the benefits of SharePoint. Rolled out a SharePoint Pilot to create positive
awareness of SharePoint and knowledge transfer to users and IT. I created the Site Collections,
sites, content types and Lists/views to be used by the Pilot departments. I also configured custom
search scopes within the Site Collection contexts so individual departments could search their
own file shares and public folders only to make content retrieval from these external content
sources easier as the ability to find information was a primary goal in the project. I also set up
web parts for these custom scopes in the appropriate Web Part pages.

London Fire Brigade, Southwark, London, UK, February 2008 – November 2008
Role: SharePoint Architect

Consulted on the full end-to-end SharePoint solution for the London Fire Brigade. The goal was
to move all of their Personnel Records, File Shares, Public folders and Hummingbird documents
over to the SharePoint platform. Provided business analysis of user requirements, translated
these into SharePoint processes to make the sharing and retrieving of information more efficient
within the organisation. Created a project plan for structuring the transition over to SharePoint
including milestones, tasks, the order in which tasks should be done and the effort required. I had
responsibility for designing the farm architecture (including security, capacity planning and
information architecture) but I also directly created the search index via the content sources and
scopes needed by London Fire. Because they had over 3TB of data, I used a process of
gradually building up the index to check the performance and ensure no documents were visible
that should not be in the index. This meant setting security properly in the network so the default
crawler account was restricted and certain paths to sensitive HR records were excluded from the
search by rules.

Created a backup and disaster recovery plan. Provided consulting on the best hardware and
software architecture to use, the best information architecture and how to manage the system
once it was in place.
