Rocket Animation 1. Open the internet explorer file in the Rocket folder from the desktop to see what you are going to create. 2. Create a new Photoshop document and alter the dimensions to roughly 800X500 pixels. Don’t worry too much about size as you can always change it later. Make sure the background is set to white. 3. Choose the paint bucket and change the background to black. 4. Open Rocket Flame and move the flame over to your black background, and place it in the middle on the bottom. (you can use the rectangle marquee tool to draw a rectangle around the flame and then move it) This should create a new layer. Double click on the layer in the layer palette and name it flame. 5. Open Rocket 2 6. Cut out the rocket using the lasso tool and drag it over to the black background. Again, this should create a new layer. Double click on the layer and name it rocket. Drag the rocket so it sits in the middle of the frame. Make sure the rocket layer is selected and go to Layer; Arrange, Send to back. This simply puts the rocket behind the flame. 7. Zoom in and use the eraser to eliminate any unnecessary pixels around the rocket. 8. Create a new layer and name it “5” 9. Using the text tool type the number 5. You’ll have to change the text color to white. Use the preview to determine placement. 10. Change the font size to 120. 11. Apply a bevel and emboss effect to the number. Change the style to Emboss and the direction size to 147. 12. Duplicate the layer and name it “4”. Replace the “5” with a “4”. Repeat these steps to get the 3,2,1 layers. 13. This may be a good time to save. Save the document as Rocket on your number. 14. Go to Image Ready. 15. On frame one, hide all layers except the rocket, the background, and the 5 layer. 16. Duplicate the layer, hide the five layer and click the eyeball next to the 4 layer to make it visible. 17. Repeat these steps through 3,2,1. 18. Change the time for each of these frames to .5 19. Duplicate what should now be frame 5. Hide the “one” layer. 20. Add the flame layer and duplicate the frame. 21. Go back to frame 6 and change the opacity of the flame layer to 0
22. Click on frame 7 and add 5 tweens. If you play the animation the numbers should count backwards from five and the flame should gradually appear. 23. Duplicate your last layer and hide the flame layer. You should now only see the black background and the rocket. 24. Once again duplicate this layer. Getting tedious huh? 25. On what is now the last layer, drag the rocket off the top of the screen into the gray area. 26. Place six tweens on this layer. 27. Change the time for all layers after the countdown to .2 28. Your animation should now be complete. 29. Save it Optimized As Rocket Animation in your number.
