EDF Energies Nouvelles acquires 50%
of the Nurri and Andretta Bisaccia wind farms,
the first two projects it has completed in Italy
Through its Italian subsidiary EDF EN Italia, EDF Energies Nouvelles has
acquired a 50% interest in two wind farms, Nurri in Sardinia and Andretta
Bisaccia in Campania. This will represent a total of 46.1 MW in net
capacity for EDF EN Italia.
As indicated ahead of the IPO, the wind farms will be acquired from
EDF Energies Nouvelles’ two principal shareholders, namely the EDF Group
(via EDEV Italia) and the Mouratoglou Group (via SIIF Luxembourg), with the
remaining 50% of the capital held by Fri-El Green Power, EDF Energies
Nouvelles’ partner in Italy.
The 22.1 MW Nurri wind farm in Sardinia has been in service since November
2004. Meanwhile, the 70 MW Andretta Bisaccia wind farm in Campania was
commissioned in July 2005. These two facilities, which have combined gross
capacity of 92.1 MW, were developed and built by EDF Energies Nouvelles’
Italian subsidiary, in conjunction with Fri-El Green Power.
The transaction, in respect of which among others a valuation study was issued
by NATIXIS, was priced at an enterprise value of €126.1 million for 100%, i.e.
€63.05 million for the 50% interest acquired. This deal will enable
EDF Energies Nouvelles, through its 95% Italian subsidiary EDF EN Italia, to
integrate all its assets and strengthen the Group’s position as an owner of wind
farms in Italy.
With the recent entry into service of the Sant’Agata wind farm in March,
EDF Energies Nouvelles now has three wind farms in production, with gross
capacity totalling 164.1MW, including 77.9MW for its own account.
