                                     Dear Rotarians:
January is Rotary Awareness Month. Considering that Rotary has been in ex-
istence for almost 105 years, the general public has little knowledge of what
Rotary and Rotarians do. By increasing public knowledge of Rotary, Rotary
will be strengthened with increased membership to do the good in the world
that is the object of Rotary. Be proactive in telling the Rotary story within
District Governor your community. Be proactive in inviting potential members to your club for
Richard Dell’Acqua them to see what Rotary is all about.

IN THIS ISSUE The crisis in Haiti is a prime example of how the media does not tell the Ro-

Coachella Valley the Dominican Republic, were instrumental in acquiring permission to bring
dictionaries in ShelterBoxes and a Rotarian was appointed by the Haitian president to
                                     lead medical relief.

Ambassadorial As terrible as is the loss of life in Haiti, another story that is not told by the

lack of clean water, disease, hunger and poverty. Rotarians are working each
