Avery Burdsal and Fale (www.abflegal.com) Avery Burdsal and Fale is a newer law firm. Most are all younger, yet successful attorneys with good experience. They are working on very interesting cases and have lots to share with interns. They work on all kinds of cases covering just about every aspect of law. Positions available: Location: 2 Provo, Utah
Bartholomew and Silva (bslawyers.com) Aaron Bartholomew is a young, energetic, and an exciting attorney who loves his job. Bartholomew and Silva practices family, immigration, juvenile, injury, and criminal type laws. This is a good experience for interns who want to be exposed to many types of law. Bill Hansen Bill Hansen shows a lot of care for interns. Mr. Hansen spends a lot of time in court and there will be many opportunities for interns to shadow and see court proceedings. Interns will experience general law, family law, criminal law, etc. Interns also receive meaningful and challenging office work when available. Mr. Hansen’s wife is the secretary at his office, which makes for a comfortable family feeling. Interns must have their own personal transportation and having a personal laptop is preferred. BYU Transfer and Technology Office (http://techtransfer.byu.edu) The BYU Technology Transfer Office helps faculty, students and staff commercialize any technology or product developed through their association with the university. Their primary purpose is to facilitate the transfer of university-developed technologies to the marketplace by protecting the intellectual property through patents and copyrights and subsequently licensing the protected intellectual properties to companies outside the university. Although students are not directly working with attorneys, this is great exposure to the research and patent-writing for student interested in intellectual property law. Preference is given to students majoring in Chemistry, Engineering, and Biology Positions available: 3 Location: Provo, Utah CASA (www.nationalcasa.org) CASA, or the Guardian Ad Litem’s Office, is a government supported law firm that specializes in protection of children. This is an ideal spot for someone interested in social work and family law. This firm gives you a good range of legal experience. There will be a lot of courtroom observation. CASA has been an experience provider for three years now. Positions available: 2 Location: Provo, Utah Law Offices of Denton Hatch Mr. Hatch is a solo-practitioner in Spanish Fork who primarily practices personal injury law. The small size of this firm allows great one-on-one contact with Mr. Hatch, who is friendly and always has more than enough work on hand for his interns. Confident students who are ready to take the initiative will do very well in this firm.

Dexter and Dexter (www.dexterlaw.com) Dexter and Dexter is a large firm in Orem, Utah that has the capability of practicing almost all aspects of law. The majority of the attorneys have graduated from BYU and have an open-door policy with the interns. This is a good chance to see how big firms work. Chris Dexter cares a lot about BYU interns and does all he can to ensure interns enjoy their experience. He prefers interns know what type of law they are interested in so they can be assigned to those types of cases. Positions available: Location: 4 Orem, Utah
Disability Law Center (www.disabilitylawcenter.org) This firm focuses on people with disabilities in all kinds of situations from mental illness, to physical handicaps, to people in prison. This is a non-traditional law firm and the experience will consists of shadowing the head-attorney. Lots of travel is required because all client visits are at homes, hospitals, and prisons. Therefore, personal transportation is required. This is a government supported law firm. Interns should be interested in social work. The firm desires interns who are sensitive to disabilities of all kinds and can handle themselves with maturity. Positions available: Location: 1 American Fork, Utah
Duval Haws & Moody (www.utahvalleylaw.com) This firm practices family, estate, wills planning, criminal, immigration, and corporation law. Interns must have their own personal transportation. Positions available: Location: 1 American Fork., Utah
Flickinger and Sutterfield (provoinjurylaw.com) Flickinger and Sutterfield is a firm that has lots of experience in personal injury law. They are passionate about what they do. Their area of practice also includes medical malpractice, motor vehicle, wrongful death, drug recalls, and defective products. This firm is professional and appropriate, but there is a fun and relaxed feeling about it. Positions available: Location: 1 Provo, Utah
Howard Lewis and Peterson (www.provolawyers.com) This is a full service law firm. There are a total of 13 attorneys who work for Howard Lewis and Peterson and almost every aspect of law is covered. Interns will receive a balanced experience with law juggling between shadowing meetings and court, to office and clerical work. Positions available: Location: 2 Provo, Utah
James G. Clark This is a small office staffed by Mr. Clark and his secretary. He has lots of experience and good advice about law school. He practices divorce, custody, adoption, family, and juvenile type law. It is a more casual office that makes for a fun semester. Kirton & McConkie has received the highest rating for professional and ethical standards by Martindale-Hubbell, and is listed in the prestigious Bar Register in its list of "preeminent law firms" in the United States. Some of this firm’s areas of practice include business litigation, corporate & tax law, and construction law. Kirton & McConkie’s headquarters are in Salt Lake City and they recently opened a branch in Orem last
summer. The office is fast paced and demanding but provides a unique, fulfilling experience for anyone committed to hard work. Preference is given to students majoring in Business Management, Accounting or Finance Positions available: 1 Location: Orem, UT ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Matthew Brimley Matthew Brimley practices family law, which includes divorce, visitation, child support, and child custody, with a special emphasis on fatherly support. Mr. Brimley has a very small office. Interns will have lots of contact with Mr. Brimley and work directly on cases and research with him. Positions Available: Location: 1 Provo, Utah.
Provo City Attorney’s Office (www.provo.org/legal.contact.html) Provo City Attorney’s Office is the defense and litigation office for the City of Provo. They work mainly with cases that are brought against the city and citizens of Provo. This internship is a balanced experience between clerical work and courtroom observation. They prefer having one intern who can work in the morning and one who can work in the afternoon. Positions available: Location: 1 Provo, Utah
Ron Wilkinson Ron Wilkinson practices family law. He spends a lot of time in court and enjoys working with the interns. He has plenty of space in his office and interns will get a wide range of duties including valuable research that is often used in his court cases. Ron also teaches at BYU and loves what he does. Utah County Attorney’s Office (www.co.utah.us/Dept/Atty) Utah County Attorney’s Office is the defense and litigation office for Utah County. They work mainly with criminal cases. This internship is based solely on courtroom and staff meeting observation. This often amounts to a good educational experience in law. However, sometimes the discussion in court and in meetings is graphic and violent. Interns must be able to handle and look at these cases with maturity and in a professional way.
