H.E. Mr. Manuel A. J. Teehankee Chairperson Committee on Trade and Environment The World Trade Organization, Geneva Manuel A.J. Teehankee is the Philippine Permanent Representative to the World Trade Organization in Geneva, and currently chairs the WTO’s Committee on Trade and Environment and is the immediate past chair of the WTO’s Working Group on Trade and Transfer of Technology (February 2005 to April 2007). He served the Philippines as Undersecretary of the Department of Justice (2001 to 2004) and concurrently Government Corporate Counsel (2002 to 2003), handling various domestic and international legal matters, including as the Justice Department’s representative in the Information Technology and E-commerce Council (ITECC), and as Legal Counsel for the Philippines in cases before International Arbitral Tribunals (ICSID, UNCITRAL, ICC). Mr. Teehankee is also a lecturer on Conflicts of Law/Private International Law and International Economic Law (WTO law in particular) of the Ateneo de Manila Law School, his alma mater, and a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School (LLM 1986) and the London School of Economics (LLM 1987).
