Thank you so much for the warm welcome that I have received by the
Southern Tier Community. In the three months that I have been here at
Broome Community College, I have met numerous students, alumni, and
community members who are dedicated to the mission and goals of BCC.

Many of the participants of BCC Continuing Education courses are “early
adopters” – individuals who find new challenges and opportunities to be
exciting and uplifing. Early adopters are the first to reach out and make new
friends. You are the first to try new things. And you are among the first to
improve the quality of life in our community by truly being part of its fabric
through your active involvement. I commend you for your leadership as an
early adopter!

Please take a look at the many summer offerings that we have for you, your
family, and your friends. Whether you choose to send your child to College
for Kids, enroll in a skill-building course to enhance your career, or join the
ranks of our entrepreneurial community, we welcome you and thank you for
making BCC a part of your life.

In the months and weeks to come I look forward to meeting even more of
you at various activities both on and off campus. By working diligently with
business and industry to enhance competitiveness and by helping small
business grow, we hope to play a key role in supporting our “Valley of
Innovation.” If you have any ideas on initiatives to enhance our programs for
the community, please be sure to let us know. Contact Continuing Education
at 778-5012 with your ideas for workforce development, entrepreneurship,
noncredit programming, or international education.

This program consists of a three hour on-site classroom session with a follow-up web-based
WEB CT session and an on-line exam.

                            -Communication and organization
                            -Risk management

certification as “SUNY Certified Youth Coach.” You also have access to
the SUNY Sports Institute where you can get coaching tips, share ideas,

Is there a budding chef in your family or a
     potential culinary school student? Cooking
is an excellent way for your child to learn a
life skill that develops creative thinking in art,
science, and math. This program has a strong
emphasis on kitchen safety and hygiene while
teaching children how to properly use kitchen
equipment as they learn to prepare meals! Ap-
prentice chefs split into groups, learning new
skills as they embark on a culinary tour that
spans the globe. From preparation to clean

Cake decorating skills are practiced every
day. By the end of the week, each apprentice
should be able to complete a 10” cake from
