O’Bryen Joins Spa du Soleil with Experience at Top Spas in the Southwest

RUTHERFORD, CALIF. (March 28, 2007) - Auberge du Soleil is pleased to
announce the appointment of Susan O’Bryen as Spa Director. In her position, Susan will
oversee all aspects of operations, staff management and treatment protocol at the award-
winning Spa du Soleil, open exclusively for hotel guests at Auberge du Soleil.
O’Bryen joins Auberge du Soleil after tenures at several leading destination spas in
the Southwest, including the Enchantment Resort’s Mii amo Spa in Sedona Ariz., El
Monte Sagrado Living Resort and Spa in Taos, N.M. and, most recently, Miraval Life in
Balance in Tucson, Ariz.
“From complimentary spa and wine pairings to infused massage oils using locally
grown herbs and ingredients, Spa du Soleil has always been at the forefront of spa
innovations,” said Managing Partner George Goeggel. “With Susan’s experience at
esteemed spas philosophically very similar to Spa du Soleil, we look forward to continuing
that creative streak and our ongoing commitment to providing our guests with intimate and
unique spa experiences.”
While at these spas, O’Bryen gained comprehensive understanding of all aspects of
spa operations, staff management and treatment philosophies. During her years at Miraval
Life in Balance, she successfully managed $2.5 million in retail revenue, developed a spa
retail department and coached and mentored a staff of more than 60. Her work at El Monte
Sagrado Resort & Spa included creating a retail department and three retail shops at the
luxury eco-resort, in addition to developing the resort’s “Lifestyle Collection” of in-room
resort amenities.
Joining Auberge du Soleil has both symbolic and emotional significance to
O’Bryen, who was married in the Napa Valley several years ago. She relocates to the area
with her husband, Michael Phillips, an internationally renowned Qi Gong and Tai Chi
